They stole my Dan Savage & Randy Savage team-up idea that I've been gimmicking in the Savage Love comment section! If only Macho Man were alive and could record answers to those Savage Love questions. That's pretty much the shtick, but for the past month or so I've been feuding with Nudeador over the quality of Macho Man's sex advice (lots of "Snap into a Slim Jim!").

I'm scared of how is "cream of the crop" promo fits into that rubric. To be honest, I don't think I've used that one yet...and I don't know why. I mean I've used Randy Savage implying he and "Cowboy" Bob Orton either fuck each other or tag team ladies...but I haven't used "THE CREAMATHECROP! YEAH!" yet...

Holy crap...Takeover Brooklyn was super awesome. Awesome card from top to bottom (probably one of the better NXT offerings this year). I'll keep this free of spoilers save for one thing...it looks as if Triple H or whomever books this stuff is of the same mind as me in what is awesome they announced the Dusty Rhodes Memorial Tag Team Tournament to begin next month at NXT events and culminate at the next Takeover special. I've always thought that the Crockett Cup / Lethal Lottery Tag Team tournaments WCW used to do were awesome and such an easy way to progress/kick off a bunch of feuds and also give guys who otherwise aren't doing much something to do, so this is pretty awesome for me. Plus, unlike the King of the Ring, which I thought was going to be awesome, but quickly turned into joke, this seems to be a NXT run event, so I've got a little more faith in it, but tag team tournaments aside there was something that got me even more pumped up... There were a couple instances of "THE STARS ARE OUT TONIGHT!!!!" where they would show Kevin Nash or Rick Rubin or whatever in the audience, so they cut to one assemblage of people with a name graphic below it and my jaw legit hit the floor... Kana (with Tazz/Rhyno name change in full effect) at a WWE event? HOLY SHIT! Google to make sure I hadn't accidentally turned on WWE '14 on the Playstation (because I'm pretty sure I had these three as a team at one point while playing that game)...nope, Kana was really there...and, moreover, apparently signed a contract with the WWE to boot. Holy fuck.

I can't fucking believe he took that. I've watched it a few times now and I still can't believe he took it.

I think it was Jericho who said that the AA was one of the hardest moves for him to take without either looking like a goon or getting legit hurt, so kudos to Jon Stewart for taking that bump.

Xavier Woods is probably my favorite wrestle-man at this point. I hope his trombone is something that comes back from time to time, because it was just so ridiculous.

I really liked this article on race in pro graps. The comments make me with I could summarily execute people (if you so much as say "SJW," I stop listening to you and you mentally go in my "this person is an ass clown" file) but that's the Internet for you. That's honestly a really good article and got me thinking about black wrestlers in my lifetime who weren't crude racial stereotypes, and the only one I could really come up with was Ron Simmons in the WCW during the late 80s/early 90s and I'm going to assume that that was only because he was a legitimate athlete before he came in, and even though he himself was just Ron Simmons, guy who is good at sports, he did get put in a lot of shitty angles where white heels were calling him "boy" and shit like that. So I, for one, am glad that this year we have gotten a feud for the tag team championship belts between two teams of black men in which none of the men involved were pimps or gangbangers and am happy to see Sasha Banks getting all sorts of praise for her matches. That's not to say that things are perfect, but I think it's a step in the right direction.

Ron Simmons, as Jim Ross never tired of telling us, played football at Forida State, and thus generally seemed to slip away from the trap that black wrestlers usually got into. I want to say his fellow Mid-South alumnus (and tag team partner in DOOM) also benefited from a bit of this. Things are definitely going in a better direction than they have been. Wrestling's low culture and probably always will be, but even low culture evolves past a certain point and it's good to see. That and dumping the fuckin' closet Nazi. What the fuck even WAS that, lady? I was thinking about this more last night and oddly enough it was the southern wrestling promotions that were somehow less racist than the northern one with regards to black wrestlers. Maybe it was the southern promotions stayed less cartoony than the WWF/E longer so you could have a guy like Iceman King Parsons competing in World Class Championship Wrestling and winning championships and being black without having him dress like Shaft or maybe Vince McMahon is just racist as fuck. As for the Nazi lady...seriously, what the fuck was that?

So I was scrolling through Netflix and one of the thumbnails caught my eye. "Oh, there's Scooby Doo and... Wait, that's not Shaggy is that... Is that John fucking Cena?"
It turns out, yes, yes it was. Scooby-Doo! Wrestlemania Mystery is a real fucking thing.
I'm tempted to watch it... but also don't want to bother.

Oh Jebus, I didn't see it yesterday but Lucha Underground is doing a second season!
This is just a horrible reminder that I'm a terrible person who needs to get back to finishing season 1.

I gotta say, it lived up to my expectations.

So it's Wednesday again and on social media I occasionally see #wcwwednesday which stands for "women crush Wednesday Wednesday."
First, that second Wednesday is redundant. And second, every time I see it I think "World Championship Wrestling Wednesday" and am always kind of disappointed that it's usually only a picture of an attractive woman and not a classic match from WCW.

So whilst making weird comments on Facebook i used the word "luchadores" which confused a person who thought I had written "lunchadores." This makes me really badly want to find a cafe that specializes in lunch that's run by luchadores. Also, the person who was confused by it actually googled "lunchadores" and found this image. All in all, everything turned out pretty awesome.

WWE' Network's old-school content dump is an embarassment of riches. Old school wrestling/rasslin' makes for fantastic background noise, so I've been watching this stuff as of late while feeding a baby. I did not realize how much I missed "the territories." Ric Flair...Dusty Rhodes...random non-luchador masked wrestlers...the interview area being a backdrop five feet away from the ring...the brawls. It's all awesome.

I think because it was mentioned in the AVC wrestling gimmicks article last week, I had been thinking about the Gimmick Battle Royale at WrestleMania 17 and realized that the length of the time period most of those participants were drawn from (late 80's, early 90's) had now more or less passed since that event. I wonder if WWE would ever consider re-visiting that idea again, as certainly the attitude era would be ripe with semi-retired guys perfect for that kind of light contact, all gimmick match. Off the top of my head you've got Val Venis, The Godfather, Too Cool, etc. that would make that sort of thing a hoot.
