So, a bunch of pilots were 'accidentally' leaked for our perusal. I watched three: Lucifer, Blindspot and Minority Report. Didn't watch the sitcom because I never heard of the guy and give no fucks.
I thought Blindspot was the closest thing to a strong pilot, though it will have to avoid the usual Mystery Show traps as a series. Jamie Alexander is a compelling lead, the fights are nicely brutal and it takes itself just seriously enough and no more.
Weirdly, Lucifer reminded me of Sleepy Hollow's pilot: Charming English protagonist, strong chemistry with female lead, bad detective tropes and worse occult ones. Might go well with that crowd but faces severe backlash from fans of the comic, who rightly see this as weak. Also; any script that has Lucifer Morningstar, First of the Fallen refer to sex as 'naked cuddle time' is playing in the wrong network level of adulthood.
Minority Report: pricy FX/design & the odd nice SF nod can’t save weak, exposition-riddled script and worse actors, particularly the two leads. Comedy bits don’t land, half the serious stuff is unintentionally funny (the Murder Mime scene is especially bad in this regard). Plus, nicking some (badly done) Person of Interest riffs is just too damn ironic.
