Greetings dear stragglers, glad you made it to episode three of season six, “The Hauntening”, the Halloween episode for this year! Just as a heads up to those at home, hi moimoi, that Bob’s Burgers will be off from this week until November 18 for their Thanksgiving, which has Gayle... so.. um, good, just good, it’s all seasonal episodes with the Christmas one coming right after. Anyway, this one involves spooky houses, a fearless Louise and hijinks because of course it does!
Louise cannot be scared, this is kinda untrue even before the episode given we’ve seen her scared several times but generally she’s the cynical kid, seen it all before, can’t phase her. This episode however is all about that “family bond” thing they got going and a haunted house with which to scare her with, right from bemused show right upto the denouement at the end and it’s the family who roped together to give Louise what she desired, a proper pee your pants scare. The idea of a whole family (and ancillary friends of the family including Mort) supporting another family member in such a way doesn’t feel right and probably doesn’t happen in reality so having everyone band together to spook Louise good feels weird. It’s still a fun ride though, a really good plan played out, almost bottle episode like and with some great visuals which for some reason go as the most unappreciated things about the show though they’re really good.
I’m not what you’d call an aficionado of the scares, kinda like Teddy I’m super jumpy so this episode for me once it started moving really had a few things that did scare me a touch. I loved Bob’s character Bobenstein, the worst possible mad scientist getup ever maybe but that voice was a bit better than it had to be. Also, by the end I had what was an orchestrated ruse, almost heist-like where the prize was scaring Louise and having a photo of her scared and that alone can push a show up a grade because I do love a heist plot. Anyway, it’s a very good addition to the five other Halloween shows except that one that wasn’t very good at all and the capper of the Boyz 4 Now video was a great stroke of genius.
Episode 3: The Hauntening
Store of the week: Blood Bath and Beyond (hey, I know that name!) Red Bathroom Products
Exterminator of the week: The Last Mouse on the Left Pest Control
Burger of the day: Breaking Radish Burger (served with a side of radish)

“Aw Mort, ya little...! Ugggh!!”

A | It’s not going to scare anyone (but Louise) but it’s one of the best episodes so far this season (all three episodes in!) and a great little Team Belcher episode which is specifically about them against the world or at least them against a girl without fear. How’s my writing? Tell me about it and I’ll try and fix it! |
