Here it is! I have to say it looks pretty good! Duncan Jones as director and a lot of good effects.

This looks like it's probably going to be really stupid but I am going to see it so many times. Too much nostalgia. I grew up both watching my dad play the series and playing it myself. Must-see.

I do appreciate that they're making the orcs sympathetic. I love when the non-human-esque species ends up being the "good" guys (re: Narn and Centauri).

I really appreciate both the emphasis on the character interactions (call me a big o'l softy, but I do like the concept of feuding entities becoming allies) and its devotion to its own crazed fantasy world. This isn't a "gritty" or "grounded" approach to this world (full disclosure: I've never played a second of any World of Warcraft game), this is like a crazed fantasy devotee's wildest dream come true. There's no way in hell this catches on with mainstream audiences, but you can bet your ass I'll be there opening day,

I don't see no elves. I guess it's mostly Warcraft 1 in the story. Kind of weird Activision didn't wait to make their own studio until they could at least see if they could make a go of the movie thing.

Cool cutscene, bro.
(Never played, not fussed for high fantasy generally. Honestly, my only interest in it is to see if anyone shouts LEEEEEEEEROY JENKINS!!!!!!)

Post-Lupin Not at all likely; if anything I think Duncan Jones may de-emphasize having any game humour in favour of emphasizing the story as a kind of fantasy epic. (If Sam Raimi was still attached I'd bet money on Leeroy Jenkins getting a nod.) I don't see no elves. I guess it's mostly Warcraft 1 in the story. Oh yeah, it's definitely the first Warcraft game's plot (more or less; obviously it looks like there will be still more retcons - which is fine.) There are very brief shots of elves, as I rambled about here, in a way I struggled to make comprehensible to people who don't follow Warcraft too obsessively but honestly I probably failed. ...but yeah, I'm so down with this. I love Duncan Jones anyway - it's great he'll finally be making Mute after doing this picture - but I'm also fairly invested in Warcraft, as goofily excessive as its fantasy world is.
