Here's a good summary of the series.

Come on, nothing really happens in volume 1! Surely anyone could at least get through volume 2 if given 15 seconds. (I haven't finished volume 2 yet.) Also, that really looks like a great book, Dr. Dastardly. Thanks for the recommendation!

The arty art book came and it really is awesome, I'm super glad I have it around.
I'm like 80% through volume one here and digging it.
Did I say this somewhere else? : Last time I read this book I was just getting together with Dastardess, and I thought it was, like, a beautiful love story. It is nothing like that at all. It's cynical and depressing. Man, my judgment was terrible for about six months straight. I thought everything was about love.

Beautiful love story?? Are you sure you were reading "Swann's Way"? Were you reading the worst translation of Proust in the history of the world? I mean, I know love is powerful and all, but still...... That middle section of "Swann's Way", the part that is actually about Swann, that is depressing shit. I actually found it illuminating as an explanation for why one of my friends claimed to be in love with someone who treated her like garbage in a similar way as this. I don't recall reading anything before (or since) that explained that so well. But, really, that section of the book mainly made me sad, frustrated and angry.
