I anticipate a landslide victory, but let's see.

For all that I look like someone who spends too much time eating sweets, I much prefer savories. Apps seems to have a wider array of options than zerts, considering the limitations of my sweet tooth.

I almost never eat dessert when we go out, and when I do it's at the wife's bidding.

Yeah. As much as I get frustrated when watching some show like Top Chef or The Taste or whatever and the judges are all, "I'm not really into sweets," because zerts are delicious, I have to vote for apps. Three reasons:
1) If I'm indulging at all, it's probably because I want something NOW, and that's what apps are for 2) I'm rarely hungry after an entree 3) As LnD said, variety is the spice
(4) Plus, fried calamari is an app, so apps win by default

Desserts are wonderful, but are regarded as an indulgence. And usually, I'm much too full to order one (unless it's part of a set menu). Appetizers are generally more easily shared, as well.

I voted HODOR because I usually just get a main when I eat out. Also I refuse to use the terms for Appetizers and Desserts used above.
That said I lean more towards the former b/c I generally want sweets/desserts to have a much wider time separation from actual food then you get in a restaurant setting, and as others have said if you're eating with others appetizers can more easily be shared (or if you're really fucking starving they make more sense and you can lie to tell yourself eating them just means you'll have more of the main left-over for lunch the next day

The trouble with zerts is that most of 'em need food rakes.

Stop trying to make "Apps" happen. It's not going to happen.
I never get either of these at restaurants. If I could only have one ever again, it would be dessert. After all, an appetizer is just a smaller entree.

Keep your foodie card and hand in your Parks and Rec card!! i claim exemption on my card due to Inconsistent Characterization/Awfulness-- this clip is the lighter side of things, and perfectly fine, so my bad.
