I totally forgot about Romantically Apocalyptic, which only updates semiregularly but is gorgeous, and weird. Maybe like a Russian 'Adventure Time' by PK Dick or something, and lacking much of the 'cuteness'. It wouldn't be out of place in Heavy Metal, but it doesn't have much/any nudity.

I like the Onion's editorial cartoon, and what I've read of Hark, a Vagrant!.

1. Dumbing of Age 2. Check Please! 3. Tripping Over You 4. Worlds Apart 5. XKCD/XKCD What If? 6. El Goonish Shive 7. Always Raining Here 8. Technicolor London 9. Muddler's Beat 10. The Young Protectors
Honorable mentions for the now-concluded Shortpacked! and The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal.
Outside of XKCD, they're all gay-themed or have prominent gay characters, so your entertainment value may vary.

Oh wait...I forgot that the Bloom County revival is web-only, so that goes on the list as well.

I forgot to ad Joan Cornella (actually a dude) whose style reminds me of educational materials but with a SICK SAD WORLD bent. [often NSFW] cornellajoan.tumblr.com/There's also dubblebaby, which most most people have seen their Ringu parody, and while I like most of their stuff it's not exactly funny (like there's no punchlines), but does has nice bonkers quality dubblebaby.blogspot.com/2012/09/buttgu.html

Not a webcomic thing, but here’s an article on Heathcliff’s online following and how it’s actually led to the newspaper comic getting weirder. Also worth noting that comedienne/former Heatchliff blogger Brandi Brown toyed with a Heathcliff minus Heathcliff concept a while back and it made more sense than the actual panels.

1. Dumbing of Age 2. Check Please! 3. Tripping Over You 4. Worlds Apart 5. XKCD/XKCD What If? 6. El Goonish Shive 7. Always Raining Here 8. Technicolor London 9. Muddler's Beat 10. The Young Protectors Honorable mentions for the now-concluded Shortpacked! and The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal. Outside of XKCD, they're all gay-themed or have prominent gay characters, so your entertainment value may vary. Two years later... I've stopped reading Worlds Apart, as it was just getting way too bleak and depressing. Always Raining Here has concluded, and Hazy London (formerly Technicolor London) has been on hiatus for more than a year now, so I can't really list it. So, here's my current Top 10 (still almost entirely gay themed) 1. Check Please! 2. Dumbing of Age 3. Tripping Over You 4. El Goonish Shive 5. XKCD 6. Sunkissed 7. Spurs and Stripes 8. Husband and Husband 9. Muddler's Beat 10. The Young Protectors Honorable mentions this time are for the about-to-conclude Elan Meets Rafa and for AJ and Mangus, which started out as a blatant Calvin and Hobbes ripoff, but has improved by leaps and bounds.
