So arguably the best show on tv right now is coming back for a 4th season. I rarely ever comment over on AVC on it because I always have to wait at least a day to watch it and also I thought we should have a thread to discuss it. It's too damn good a show not to.
This is going to be one hell of a season, won't it?

I just don't understand Martha anymore. Is she so desperately lonely or what that she's willing to accept/forgive this? Also, Nina having a husband came out of the left field. That I think will be an interesting storyline.
What is most incredible is Pastor Tim's reaction. I find it hard to believe that he would be so calm and composed about that whole situation. Come on, the girl just told him her parents are Russian spies in the middle of a Cold War!

He will work Paige for information until he reveals that he is, improbably, a CIA operative, ultimately driving her into the arms of Mother Russia.

Well, that's a bit extravagant for The Americans' brand of minimalism. Most likely Pastor Tim just doesn't believe her. But I agree with you, he's awful, so slimy and false.

So I'm guessing Oleg won't be staying home after all.
Also, did Gabriel imply that he was involved in the Great Purge?
EDIT: totally called both!

Is a time jump ever not exciting?

Anachronism! Alice says Pastor Tim went missing near the Eritrean border. Eritrea was officially part of Ethiopia from 1947 to 1993. It was in a state of rebellion in the 1980s, but I'm not sure if it was happening as early as 1984, and in any case, she wouldn't have used the term "border."

speaking of anachronism, i was paige's age then and rolled my eyes at The Day After, esp. since i had already caught On the Beach on the late late show. that mtv piece of schlock was presented as though it were universally upsetting to all the characters, no matter what age. i found this to be a clunker, and i wish the cynicism of my youth had been represented by at least one character-- maybe the CIA daughter will say something churlish about shooting reagan, fingers crossed.
