This week’s foray into the world of the Belcher family brings us episode 13, “Wag the Hog”, where Critter returns with an issue for Bob to fix and Linda has adventures in babysitting.
An episode which ropes in the One-Eyed Snakes is usually going to be pretty fun and this one doesn’t really fail in that aspect. Bob is basically coerced into fencing Critter’s bike for bail money and while you might think Bob would be the last guy to do that sort of thing, I think that misunderstands what values Bob holds and how he would do this for the right circumstances. Critter’s home life and his kid Sidecar was what pushed Bob into doing it, he wants for a better life for Critter if only for his kid which makes sense, Bob is all about family for better or worse and as such so is the show. Our B-plot is another Linda-centric one and while it’s as Linda-y as you could want it’s also a bit poor in being kinda boring but it intersects with the A-plot a few times so at least it isn’t isolated. It’s a solid episode which recognises the wealth in their side characters and also reminds you that Bob really does tend to have fun with the kids so it even gets a strong family through-line which remains as alien to me as ever and you even get to learn about butt phones, what's not to like about that?

A- | Partially let down by a minor level chaotic B-plot, this was a great episode with some great work from Joe Lo Truglio as Carl and Thomas Lennon as Kenny. My soul searching continues for what makes the show tick for me, much like finding Butterscotch it might never be found. |
