ITS BOO-BOOOOOOO!!! When Boo Boo leaves Boyz 4 Now, Tina and Louise have to see him one last time and a secret past for Bob’s restaurant raises intrigue from Jimmy Pesto, all that in episode 16 of season 6: “Bye Bye Boo Boo”!
This episode had one thing going for it, it was cute. Louise’s still-burgeoning crush on Boo Boo, the whole plot regarding a breakup of a boy band and even Jimmy’s pathetic little show was all just... cute. Bob’s Burgers isn’t a cute show but it does have shades of it at times and usually it’s heartwarming without being saccharine about it.
I like Louise a lot, for me seeing her vulnerable makes me like her more because I still believe in her being the heart of the Belchers as while Tina is all concern, Louise is all about compassion (and Gene is there to say non-sequiturs as he’s the tagalong). Bob’s small story kinda factors into a general theme that’s been running for the last few episodes where Bob is resistant to change even when it benefits him and/or those around him. In this, he finds that a mob hit happened where the restaurant is and is given an historical plaque to go put up though he’d rather not. I get his thinking, much like with the Tiki theming from the last episode he doesn’t want to have his place be remembered for the wrong reasons. Jimmy however does because his theming is Italian in nature and he lives for it, Bob however doesn’t want to have all the clichés of themed dining. He’s a man of principle and I can’t fault him on that.
The episode does work well, Bob’s issue is quiet enough to be resolved quick and Louise’s issue might be her swampy pits (also ew, Tina) but boy is she cute when doing it so like I say, cute!

B* | An episode that makes me smile right through is usually a good one, nice turns from Lauren Lapkus as Krissy, even some nice character stuff with Krissy’s dad too. Overall, it helps build out Louise and the people in her near orbit even if it retreads a few bits. Lowered grade due to the Ollie and Andy Ding™ |
