Hey, gang. It's your "neighborhood" barista. What have I been doing lately? Oh, just mostly listening to entitled people ask for impossible things. But, oh do I have a treat for you! No, it isn't me telling all of you that I have the power to bring back Double Dutch Chocolate, or create a new flavor named Orange Fudgsicle Trash Heap. It's me mixing up coffees to blend flavor into something even nicer. Now I don't plan to involve the act of roasting here. This is more of piecing together flavor "portraits" through existing, commercial coffees.
Of course, anyone can join in with their newfound blend that they've been using.
NW Party Blend - Oops, I've decided to start with something that's only available regionally without a subscription. Oh well, just get up and move to The Pacific Northwest, like I did. Buck the bridle and bit of the local roaster and move out into your own Flavor Country, like I did. See how a Cult of Personality arises? It's just that sleazy.
3 parts Tony's Mexico Chiapas 1 part Trader Joe's House Blend
The Trader Joe's House Blend is a perfect mystery mix of Colombian and Sumatran beans that makes one feel as though they're enjoying a morning at their favorite, busy diner cafe. Tony's Mexico Chiapas is a chocolate, almond smoothness that gives you that rebel feeling without having to remember that this land has been "occupied" by foreign invaders for a very long time.
To my palate, these beans together make a beautiful music. They are after all, a musical fruit.
Open challenges for the thread:
Personal worsts for coffee blends.
Personal regrets for using General Foods International Coffees instead of something with "higher class".
And, for the truly daring, or those with a bad case of "Mister Coffee Nerves" - Share with us your use of Postum.

My friends and I used to make “grad student mochas” in college—we’d go into the department’s grad student lounge, and still some of the cheap-ass hot chocolate mix into the sub-diner coffee they brewed there. Surprisingly good.

I'd dump a packet of hot chocolate mix into a cup and then brew a cup of coffee from the Keurig machine right into it. I don't know how my heart hasn't exploded by now.

This is more in the "crappy coffee" vein, but Disney has not mastered decent regular brewed coffee. While staying at the Boardwalk Inn I asked the breakfast counter lady if they had iced coffee, and her response was "I can give you a cup of ice and you can fill it up over there," pointing at the hot coffee urns. Uh, I think I'll pass.
On the Disney cruise ship, I took Trader Joe's instant coffee (surprisingly good) along with me and mixed that WITH the regular coffee to form something drinkable.

Oh man it is so cathartic to see all of you who would mix swiss miss in with shitty office coffee. That's what got me hooked on coffee at first.

I want to tell you all about my one-time high school study aid:
Dr. Chek (for those needing another cryptic analog to this mysterious beverage, I implore ye to root out the origin of Mr. Pig) Instant Coffee Powdered Creamer
It didn't work out beverage-wise. It did keep me up until early morning, though.
