Driving past a fallow farm field, with the morning sun in my eyes, I thought I was looking at backlit puffs of dust in the air. Then I realized, as I drove into them, that they were swarms of gnats or some other tiny bug.

A plane fly into a cloud and not come out of any part of the cloud I could see. A broken crayon, someone left on black asphalt, that has completely melted. There's a signpost up ahead Next stop: The Twilight Zone! Can't help it. I heard that in Rod Serling's voice

A carpenter ant on my pinky toe, which I brushed off before it bit me. Why do ants suddenly appear/every time you are near?

There's a sign on the highway near here that says "JESUS DIED RAISED AND COMING AGAIN BELIEVE ON HIM". Just like that. I never remember where it is so I've never taken a picture of it, but maybe someday.

While going past the trail park on the way to work I was stopped at the road crossing by what had to have been the men's cross-country team from a local college. About 25 shirtless guys, between the ages of 18 and 22, all sweaty and panting and that kind of lean-muscular build... Many of them waved to thank me for stopping, but I was like, "Guys, no need to thank me. I can't drive right now while I'm groping around at my feet to find where my jaw landed." I am always on watch along there for deer, but I never expect a herd of foxy shirtless dudes to dart out in front of my car!

I never remember where it is so I've never taken a picture of it, but maybe someday. My favorite sign like that is when I used to go by the "HELL WAS MADE FOR DEADBEAT MOTHERS" sign on IA Highway 20. Someday I will hear the depressing tale that led some farmer to place that on his highway-side property.

Yesterday I saw a sign for "Joe's Stump Grinding" My high school guidance counselor never even mentioned this as a career possibility.

*Visiting NYC edition*
A Lamborghini rolling down the street blasting rap music while the passenger was looking through his phone as if taping the people on the sidewalk. As it got closer I saw the passenger was none other than Tracy Morgan, filming the big line up of people waiting to get into The Late Show and waving.

Dellarigg The last time I was at the beach before moving to California it was in Northumberland! Also a lot of lovely fossils up there (which was the main reason I was at the beach, but I really love those North Sea beaches—growing up near the cold New England acclimated me, and I was almost nostalgic for Maine—those beaches are actually among my favorite memories of Europe). Also I saw a guy get out of a luxury car who was a striped shirt away from looking like Pablo Picasso. Influenced by our current record club I had to restrain myself from yelling out “Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole!”

My sponsor got married on one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. Her way of doing wedding favors was to let everyone have one or two whacks at a pinata filled with candy and toys. Here's my loot:

A tomato plant that managed to grow out of the crack between someone's front steps and the sidewalk. The owner is apparently rolling with it because they had support post set-up for it and everything.

A truck on the interstate with "Jesus Saves" etched in the dust. Ok very common.
But below it someone else etched "George Morehouse withdraws". Still not sure if it's merely a Dad joke or a sex joke.

A young girl fall off her bike and start howling. I was nearest, but there were also some women around, so I walked on by and hoped they would take care of it, lest I be accused of paedophilia. This is what it's like over here now. That fucking Savile.

That cute cat again! As I was kneeling down to pet him, he kept putting his face up and looking at me impatiently. I finally realized he really wanted to headbutt my face. The second I put my face down close to his he headbutted it like 5 times. It was SO ADORABLE! My cat does that too. I just thought he was weird ( I mean he did try to kill his twin brother)
