Dammit, I wish I met any of those qualifications. I could make GJI great again in the first place.

"Strong candidates will already be........enthusiastic about Great Job, Internet!" They're not making this easy.
But then again, spending countless hours wandering the remote corners of the internet looking for mildly entertaining stupid shit to pass along to others, instead of doing actual work that contributes to society, is sort of a dream job, isn't it? Getting paid for something one does anyway is always nice. When I think about , it's like I've been training for this for almost 20 years now. I bet you have to be able to type, though. That would disqualify me. I guess my amateur standing isn't threatened.

What's there to edit? The links to off-site content?

I wonder if being able to shrug off the complaints of the commentariat is an implied task.

Skills and Qualifications: - Ability to remain upbeat while receiving a constant barrage of insults from employer and AV Club commentariat alike.

I think they're trying to expand this to actually do internal content?
I briefly flirted with the idea of applying but my video editing skills are limited to Instagram videos of my dog.

"identifying appropriate topics for and writing 5 - 10 GJIs each weekday"
And in addition to writing 5-10 daily, publishing freelance ones!
That is ... depressingly many.

Vox asks 25 posts per month from its writers (and you can do less if your traffic is good, or more if you are a terrifying cyborg like me), and we think that's maybe a little too much sometimes.

Jesus. Over here at a (still-printed) subsidiary of Voice Media, I do three restaurant reviews, a list, and 4-5 blog posts per month. My wife works at LAT, and does about a post a day (sometimes more), and there's this huge gap between the newspaper folks and those who were brought in from the web, in terms of what workload is/should be. I honestly don't know if it's solvable short of building two separate publications that have the same name.

I'm late with the commentary, and i have nothing to add about the workload of web journalists. I just wanna say that I'm pleased there's now verifiable proof that you're a cyborg. I don't know about terrifying, though. What is your kitten stance? Pro or anti?

I honestly did think about applying for the job, but it probably doesn't make any more than I already do as an editor. Not to mention, I'm not sure I could sustain that kind of workload, as it would be a complete turnaround from what I do now contracting with the federal government, where sometimes I wind up waiting for months at a time to receive documents back from them to work on.
