I surprised myself by upgrading my iPhone 5C (which was still working pretty well) to an iPhone 7 over the weekend -- Verizon had a great offer going and gave me $400 trade-in for my 5C, which is astounding. And having the newest tech means I can keep it longer, so, great.
As a phone, it's great. I like the 3D touch and TouchID. It's thin but feels pretty sturdy. (I have a case coming.)
But two things have annoyed/mystified me.
I backed my old phone up on iTunes as suggested. That part went fine. When I plugged the new one in, the Restore process ... did not happen. I went through it 5 times before giving up. Kept getting errors that something had gotten disconnected. Finally just backed all my photos from the old phone up on Google and set the new phone up as new.
Which leads to the second weirdness - my photos are all over the place on the new phone. I've only taken a few new ones, but all my old photos are showing up in a chronological mishmash. I've got stuff from Christmases, Disney World and random dog photos all listed in "Sunday - Yesterday". Makes it hard to find anything.

Truthfully, phone up Apple support. They're usually super helpful and easy to deal with, especially with iTunes which can have some really weird options.

I'm sort of over the restore thing, though it would be nice to get the photos sorted properly. Maybe I'll try the Apple store next time I'm at the mall.
