Well, y'know, Red Dead Recidivism just doesn't have the same flow to it. I loved John Marston and I hope he's only in the game as a cameo. Also, all of the scenes of all the posses are making me think it's going to be a mostly-online multiplayer dickfest, and I'm one of the dying breed that wants nothing to do with that.

The posse stuff will likely be like Heists in GTA V. There were only 5 heists during the singleplayer and pretty spaced out. They are an even bigger deal in the online.
I think rockstar will make a robust enough singleplayer for RDR2, GTA V was as long as all the others. But of course rockstar is probably also banking on a RDR2 online that can be super profitable. The real question is how engaging the story for the single player will be. I don't think V had a good story really, and if it is just about being a badass outlaw, ehhh. If they can play it more like GTA IV where niko was trying to be able to put the life of crime behind him, just with a disillusioned to outlaw antics Marston or another character, I can see it be compelling.

Oof, I never consider that angle, because we never get involved in online multiplayer dickfests, but that trailer really smacks of it, doesn't it?

From what I recall of RDR's multiplayer, it was all prepubescent English boys shouting homophobic slurs in godawful Texas accents. Also all of the other game modes were empty and the only one that had players was the open-world war of all against all.

I just hope that instead of 10 treasure maps there are 50. Okay, I know that won't happen, but I can hope for at least 15. Maybe 20?

The treasure hunting was one of my favorite aspects of RDR, especially in Mexico where it felt like a City Slickers 2: The Legend of Curly's Gold game. Hopefully they will be back and also there will be more of them. Anyway RDR2 is looking good but my only complaint is, where's the desert? RDR1 had places inspired by Texas and Mexico and 2 could easily have Arizona or Nevada type areas, but so far all you see is forests, fields and mountains, seems strange to me to think of an entire wild west game without any desert environments at all. But of course we'll have to wait for the full game to know for sure.

Everything logical tells me I shouldn't pre-order RDR2. But... You get a treasure hunt only available in digital pre-orders! How am I supposed to resist that?! ::salivates at the thought of new sweet, sweet treasure maps::

It's very good so far.
I turned on "Free Aim", since that's what I used in the original and Max Payne, but it seems a bit more difficult to use in this game

I had severe doubts about modern era Rockstar, to the point where I wasn't even hyped until a week or two before launch, but RDR2 is definitely a classic. A 10/10 game for sure

A 10/10 game for sure It is a great game and parts of it truly are like no other game ever made, but damn if there aren't some flaws though. The controls are very frustrating and I think it is one too many systems to keep track of. I know rockstar was going for a very realistic feel, but having to worry about all these meters of weight, camp money, horse stamina, just actually makes it feel more like a video game to me actually and one that actively hinders my experience.

I fall somewhere between the two of you. I agree with matt that there is a few too many things to figure out. I keep talking about it, but I really want the upgrades to decorate the camp, but you need all of these exotic pelts which I have no idea how to find or how to obtain once I find the animals. Then all the collectible missions, like rock carvings, cigarette cards, dinosaur bones, etc. How the hell are you supposed to find that stuff in a world this size with so much to look at in every direction?
However every story mission and every moment spent in the camp is pretty much perfect so far. I love all 20 people in the camp and appreciate how each mission lets you get to know one of them better.
I'm still at the Clemens Point camp which I gather is very early in the game still so I assume it's only going to get better.

Dont get me wrong, im still having a great time with the game. I love a lot of the characters and the atmosphere. I'm not even out of chapter 2 yet, but have spent many many hours already. I nearly have the camp fully upgraded, have done quite a bit of side stuff. It's just more of a 9 out of 10 or a 4 out of 5 game for me instead of like 10 for 10. So far only God of War is a better game I've played from this year.
