Booooo!! Greetings and welcome to episode three of season seven, "Teen-A-Witch" where it's Halloween for the Belchers. Tina is competing for Best Costume and Bob's best jack-o'-lanterns are going missing, it's a tale to chill as we do this season's Halloween episode and hopefully don't run into the Thanksgiving one in two weeks (disclaimer: we will).
Tina’s dalliances outside the straight and narrow are often times where her character gets to shine. I somewhat like Tina but her redeeming aspects are trapped under layers of odd fetishes, monotone beigeness and droning so when she gets to exhibit some backbone and personality, I believe in Tina that little bit more as someone who’s a rounded out character. Here, she gets involved briefly in the world of the occult but so briefly that it kinda starts, gets challenged and stops almost as quickly which is pretty much Tina’s life, it exists moment by well-defined moment. Most of the A plot is about Tina’s inability to not see without fantastical blinders which tend to make her sometimes naive but also incredibly cautious about things, an okay combo if it didn’t seem to limit her ability to assert herself more though in some ways, it’s probably a good thing a boy-crazed butt monster like her isn’t more assertive.
The B-plot meanwhile is incredibly quiet to the point of being padding, Bob’s jack-o’-lanterns are being stolen, he figures it might be Jimmy but it’s not, it’s Mr. Fischoeder making a buck with his above mentioned Jack-o-Land, literally his lawn strewn with the jack-o’-lanterns he stole. Overall, the episode is about as good as a Halloween episode can be, doesn’t swing for the fences but manages to make a compelling story for 21 minutes of your time.

B- | The episode is let down a bit by a pretty lousy B-plot but the A-plot had enough good aspects to it to make it a good little romp through Tina’s teenage life. Billy Eichner is always good as Mr. Ambrose and we have a very small voiceless cameo by Regular Sized Rudy so it’s all pretty good. |
