It’s 2017 and Bob’s Burgers will be there as will Tina who’s still fawning over Jimmy Jr. in “Ex-MachTina” but this time, she’s got a telepresence robot to do it instead. And Bob's got a banjo! All this in this week’s episode!
Jimmy Jr. is an interesting kid, all the Pestos tend to be as it’s like a “descending quality of genes” thing going on with those guys but Jimmy Jr. is in the middle and I think tonight may have given up something about Jimmy Jr. even if it negated it by the end. Jimmy Jr. related better to robot Tina (if Tina at all) throughout and while they did get to smooch at the end, it’s clear human interaction with Tina is something he does as sparsely as possible if he can help it. They keep you guessing with Jimmy Jr. and it’s hard to get a bead on if he dislikes Tina or not in that way because it’s like they can’t decide how to play him against Tina and give her something to pursue. My odds are still in favour for him being gay but you can never tell and could be a total fakeout.
Technically there were three plots this week but the B-plot, Louise and Gene take Tina’s telepresence robot for a little nightriding around the school, is pretty integrated into the A-plot so I’ll count it as one and was so much more fun than yet another story of Tina striking out repeatedly, woe betide anyone who gets close to that kid. That had the bulk of good lines and Bob’s little banjo thing was kinda interesting in the sense of “Bob gets a new interest but abandons it/has it taken from him” plotlines and thankfully he abandoned it due to lack of skill and lack of banjo moments rather than say Linda just destroying it which is very well received in the Hippo bunker.

“I kinda hate myself... for even asking Tina.”

B+ | Solid outing, not much to discredit it but doesn’t really remain in the mind very long either. Nice song even this week, usually they leave me a bit cold but this wasn't half bad. |
