Within “Like Gene for Chocolate”, we find Gene’s going to get back his original chocolate after they get changed and Bob finds himself back within a Teddy-based outing, a fun time to be had by mostly all!
Episode 12: Like Gene for Chocolate
Store of the week: Brush It Again, Sam Refurbished Toothbrushes
Exterminator of the week: No Country for Old Mice Pest Control
Burgers of the day: An obscured one that probably “Another One Bites The Bun”, later switched out for “Citizen Kale Burger” (and yes, I do hope someone got fired for that blunder) and another one I simply couldn’t make out
“Betrayal Mix!”
A very good episode again, quite the roll that Bob’s Burgers happens to be on. For me, Gene remains a very hollow character, principled but lazy is the best description I have for his specific style. In this episode though, he becomes pretty driven for something he appreciates and loves and while it doesn’t pan out for him, he does have a persuasive way about him which is a nice new facet that could do with a polish.
B plot was actually interesting if a touch thin with Bob being roped into Teddy’s somewhat hairbrained scheme of rescuing golf balls from a course pond and reselling them back to the members for a quarter. It’s real unclear on how Teddy manages to fill three large tubs with golf balls when putting a hose pipe for breathing purposes makes him gag but it’s just a show, I should really just relax. We get some great improv bits where Larry Murphy and H. Jon Benjamin just glide along with some great ad-lib stuff and while guest Judah Friedlander of 30 Rock fame doesn’t leave much of a mark, he occupies a nice enough place.

A | Another week, another A and this one is very deserving of that honour with beautiful comedy woven from the strands of insanity and chaos. |
