I pretty much agree with repulsionist's comments here. Fenriz has talked about his approach to the aesthetic of black metal aesthetics pretty extensively in the past, and even curated a "best of" album of what he views as the primary influences (what he calls "first wave black metal"), which you can listen to here if you're curious (be warned: it 100% won't change your mind). Everything about this is intentionally designed to alienate as many people as possible, so if you don't like it, that's probably for the best--the sonics are probably the least problematic thing about traditional black metal by far.

Oh yeah. I should answer your question, monodrone. This is much more interesting than Lame Ass God because they're purposely devolving, not trying to get better in a way of climbing upward musically, practising endlessly, and mulling over multiple takes. Darkthrone is Bros in the woods dancing around the fire on a Nordic night; drunk, determined to fuck shit up, then putting the needle on the record to feel that swelling of mind, body, and intoxicant inspire action to repeat. It is a "fuck you" of the moment, not a rehearsal journey.
