I mean, are we talking about chopped onion added to the sauce or like whole layers of onion? Chopped. It's amazing how many recipes start off with "chop one onion". I mean sure if you’re making homemade marinara… they get cooked down to practically nothing.

Much like when I visited Japan last year, the exchange rate for Australia is currently boss.

What was the first song that was a complaint that music wasn't as good as it used to be? Was there something like a 16th century Gregorian chant claiming that monks were more authentic in the 15th century?

Fun Facts to Help Understand Southern Illinois:
Salem IL is a nice little town located about an hour south of me on I 57. West Salem IL is located 50 miles almost due east of Salem IL.
Make of that what you will.

Make of that what you will. I mean, West Salem IL is west of Salem MA so maybe Salem IL should be called something like New West Salem or Wester Salem. West Salem IL is also technically west of Salem IL, you just have to travel west for a really long time.

BCBS just sent me a letter saying my latest hospital stay was unapproved. They approved the observation part but not the admittance. I was admitted so I could have a cardioversion which completely ended the symptoms! It doesn't even say whether they approved the cardioversion. I'm pretty sure I can appeal this successfully but damn it, this is so stupid.

This is an amazingly well-written obituary. It sounds like the guy would have really liked it. At least I hope he would have.

Hey, Canadians, I was watching Ice Road Truckers the other day (which was fascinating!) and one guy sounded like he was saying bye, but the subtitles had it as b,y (I think). Is this a Canadian thing, like saying eh?

Is this a Canadian thing, like saying eh? It's a Newfoundland thing. "b'y" short for "boy" and often peppered throughout Newfie speech. Sometimes you'll even find it stacked with an "eh" as in "eh, b'y"

Is this a Canadian thing, like saying eh? To go with what Munster said, here's a clip from Letterkenny with two Newfies "chirping" at an opposing hockey team. You can definitely catch a few "b,y"'s in there, along with all kinds of other wonderful configurations.
(Uh, strong language, I guess.)
IF you click through to watch it on YouTube, one of the top comments is a pretty hilarious translation of what they're saying. Not a transcription, a translation. Also, the Newfie on the right, Terry Ryan, later went on to have a main role in the Letterkenny spinoff series, Shoresy.
