This is probably the state's punishment for obliterating school budgets and re-electing the worst governor ever. Juggalo invasion

I mean we are kind of on a swamp so there's a lot of humidity to go around but this is supposed to be a freaking lovely summer weekend that illustrates why people stay in Chicago even though it can be hellacious in the winter.

"Admit it: You got millennial feels when you clicked on this baby name, riiight? The Hardy Boys novels were quite the read for kids growing up in the '90s, and now that we know the meaning of Hardy, it all makes sense!" ...millienials read what? Is that a real thing? Also here is the article Roaring 20s Baby Names , LazBro

(I mean, I fully and proudly put forth that I don't know what childhood pop culture millennials were into. For all I know they do have all the feels when they think of the Hardy Boys...)

All the other cool kids on this site added emojis to their display names as part of a paid guerrilla marketing ploy for The Emoji Movie, right? Sweet, me too. It wasn't just to fit in.

Thanks for sharing that! I mean, as I've always said, cool is the rule when you're on a case... and danger's in your face! It gives me all the feels.

Hey, 🐐 is not an emoji! My Unicode table lists it under "Miscellaneous Symbols and Pictographs". So there. ...And, I did do it just to fit in.

That list has Kermit on it! And Giles. I like that name. Also Truman, Alvin, and Mack.

It's been so long since I mailed something, I just put a stamp in the upper-left corner of an envelope and had to peel it off to put it on the right.

Like instead of "12345", they wrote "Twelve-Thousand Three-Hundred and Forty-Five"? Would that get delivered?

Like instead of "12345", they wrote "Twelve-Thousand Three-Hundred and Forty-Five"? Would that get delivered? Possibly. It would definitely be delayed. The addresses now are read by machines, and get codes printed on them that direct them to the correct zip code. This type of thing would get stalled as "unreadable". Not sure if a human would then correct it and send it on its way, or whether it would be returned as "unreadable". My guess is that it would eventually be delivered, but with some delay.

I worked at the Remote Encoding Center in East Pittsburgh over a decade ago. A whole roomful of people sitting at computers. Images of the envelopes would flash on the screen, and we would have to quickly type in the zipcode and a simple abbreviation of the street address. The information we typed would be turned into the barcodes that got printed on the envelopes. We were expected to do at least 2000 per hour. All because machines couldn't read handwriting. They did close the place down eventually; maybe the machines are getting smarter?

It would only cost about $.50 to run an experiment to find out if this would work.

Thank God that today, the day on which I bent over and the seat of my pants ripped open in cartoonish fashion, was also a day on which I had decided, just for once, to drive to work.
