Creating a new thread for headlines that have parts which are both surprising and unsurprising and so I cannot figure out which thread to put them on. Trump accused of breaking promise to coal industry CEOSurprising because Trump has seemed to bend over backwards for energy executives. Unsurprising, because it involves him breaking a promise.

"Nun with a Chainsaw" and "Hobo with a Shotgun" would be a great double feature

Not surprising because, jesus this guy has been given a ton of chances and blown them all, still kinda surprising because how often do the wealthy and well-known actually face real world consequences?
Anthony Weiner Sentenced to 21 Months for Sexting 15-Year-Old
Beyond being a registered sex offender, some teenage girl's ongoing trauma, and now having to go to prison, I wonder if he ever looks at a newspaper headline about Trump and thinks "On top of it all, I helped this happen."

I clicked that link. That story is way crazier than the headline makes it out to be.

Is there a crazy Florida stories repository you're getting these from, or what?

Is there a crazy Florida stories repository you're getting these from, or what? Well, Florida. I do live there. But the last two have actually been a side-effect of the Kinja switchover, since they've both been crossposted Kinja stories.

I always assumed you lived on Yancy Street in New York City's Lower East Side.

That needs more of a "Deeply Ironic Headlines" thread.

This one is going here because it is published in the Arizona Republic, a right leaning newspaper in a state that continuously elects climate deniers to all meaningful levels of government. Phoenix's heat is getting worse - and sticking around longerIf you click the link, the actual headline is still good: "Phoenix's heat is rising - and so is the danger" This was the HUGE front page story on today's paper. The headline one the actual print edition was "DEATH BY DEGREES"

If you go by some religious nuts' opinions, this should be soon followed by: CERN Physicists Enact Plan to Destroy Universe

If you go by some religious nuts' opinions, this should be soon followed by: CERN Physicists Enact Plan to Destroy Universe To be fair I think this was (former?) Astronomer Royal Martin Rees's view, and the view of a bunch of people whose parsing of risk analyses veered into nuttery of the secular kind.

"Trump Ally Roger Stone Permanently Suspended From Twitter After Vicious Attacks On CNN Journalists"
Unsurprising because this guy is a major asshole, surprising because Twitter actually did something about it.
