Tony Allen, sick-as-fuck drummer for Fela Kuti among other things, who could simultaneously play different time signatures on each hand.

Damn. Probably the greatest sad sack character in sitcom history. Also loved him on the one or two episodes he did on pretty much every memorable sitcom of the last thirty years (I guess outside of Scrubs he's best remembered as the creepy guy reading the TV Guide out loud to Elaine on Seinfeld).

Ugh, he was so great on Scrubs. Wonderful comedic timing and delivery.

Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk fame. I was introduced to Kraftwerk by my JW friend who a couple of years afterward went to work at the JW world HQ (Bethel) and to my knowledge is still there. I've seen him one time since, about 10-12 years ago.

Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk fame. Such a hero of mine. I shall raise a glass in slow, controlled, precisely-programmed moves in tribute.

Little Richard - goddamn. We had the same birthday, for one thing.
This is some nice footage. The sheer joy on everyone's face, and even the dancing girls give up and just watch him after a while.

A lot of the news articles about this are mentioning how the record label used to give his songs to Pat Boone to sing. And there's a video I saw where he even talks about Pat Boone singing "Tutti Frutti". And ..... I just never knew this. Who the hell would want to listen to Pat Boone sing "Tutti Frutti" when you could hear Little Richard sing it?? WTF?? Oh, America.... sigh.
Ye Gods, he was amazing. What a singer. What a performer.

RIP Jerry Stiller. One of Seinfeld's funniest actors, and one of only four celebrity sightings I had while living in NYC. He was coming out of a grocery store with a bag of produce.

Fred Willard has died at the age of 86. Dammit, he was great. Even his scandals were quaint and endearing (at least the only one I know of, if he turns out to have been some kind of secret monster or something, I'm giving up on humanity.) The only non comedic Fred Willard performance I ever saw was when he played a harried railroad official in Silver Streak. Everything else was comedy gold. His turn in Best of Show, as mentioned above, is a stone classic.

I think it was on the commentary track for The Aristocrats, they quoted Martin Mull as saying Fred Willard entered character in 1964 and never left.

Sword of Trust is on my Netflix queue but as yet unwatched. On top of the obvious tragedy of someone dying in their prime and just when it seemed like her career was starting to really take off, I feel really sad for Maron. It sounds like he was really happy with her and people describe them as being a very much in love couple. I wonder how a former addict deals with something so devastating, I imagine it must be very difficult. Also as a comedian, it must seem like the last thing in the world you'd want to do is stand in front of a crowd and make jokes for their amusement again.

I can't even imagine Christopher Guest's films without him.
I think I laughed more at his performance in "Best in Show" than at any other performance in any film. I don't even know how Jim Piddock kept a straight face in those scenes. The scene where all the terriers come in, and Willard chimes in so joyfully with "And to think, in some countries these dogs are eaten!".... ugh, I literally cried laughing. I showed this movie to my dad, and Willard made him laugh so much.

Oh yeah I knew about some of those credits, and as I've seen at least four of those I'm sure i have. I meant to say I don't know which individual episodes of those shows I've seen that she directed.
