I have often been sad to think that living memory of going to the Moon will die out within a few years, with no prospect of it ever returning. RIGHT?! Yeah, I know there's not much to DISCOVER there besides rocks and dust now, but what the fuck? We should TOTALLY be visiting it on a regular basis by now! COME ON!! I believe this is something Trump was pushing for. Against the recommendation of NASA. Elections have consequences!

Architect Helmut Jahn, 81, in a bike crash in the far western suburbs of Chicago. Even if you don’t know the name, he left an indelible impact on Chicagoland and international architecture, and designed the United terminal at O’Hare including the neon-lit pedestrian tunnels.

Norman Lloyd, who we all thought was going to live forever, at 106. Born during WWI. Worked with Orson Welles before Citizen Kane - he was the young hot-shot's voice of reason! Hitchcock gave him one of the great death scenes ever - we were still fighting WWII! He was the great, imperial old man on St. Elsewhere - some of you kids probably weren't even born yet. And he appeared with Amy Schumer, so yeah, close to indestructible!

Charles Grodin, 86.
Excellent in Midnight Run, easily holding his own with De Niro. And let us not forget his small role in Rosemary's Baby.

Here he is sharing useful knowledge about back pain:

Paul Mooney, age 79. Funny dude. Is the SNL word association skit he wrote the best sketch in the history of late night TV? Maybe.

I remember seeing her "Knockers Up" records in stores when I was a little kid, but I never got to hear any of them.

Gavin MacLeod, of the Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Love Boat dead this morning at ninety.
I bring this up only to mention the fact that I once took a university course taught by a professor who was once sued by Gavin MacLeod.

I have never seen a single episode of The Love Boat, nor even a clip aside from maybe the title sequence, but MacLeod was faultless on MTM, the best cast comedy of all time. 90 though. Good innings.

Clarence Williams III dead of colon cancer at 81. Probably best known for playing Linc on The Mod Squad he appeared in a mess of other TV shows and movies including such all time classics as I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, Tales from the Hood, Deep Cover, and of course, Half Baked.

Two great, underappreciated, characters and actors. I watched WKRP faithfully (Baily was hotter than Jennifer, fight me) and I loved the original "Pee-Wee Herman Show" when it popped up as a special on HBO, and "Pee-Wee's Playhouise"

I was once talking with a guy who installs high-end stereos; he told a story about a plum gig up in Taos. While he only interacted with the housekeeper on the front end, once the job was done out comes a grinning Donald Rumsfeld from the back room. It could have been in jest, but the guy claimed he would have mis-wired the stereo had he known.

Don't mis-wire it, tell him it will be a two hour job, tops, then say you have to knock a hole through that wall and you have to reroute the such-and-such through the so-and-so because the polarity is reversed and next thing you know you've been working on installing this guys' stereo for fifteen years.

That was my business model for about fifteen years.
