Nudeviking patbat Roy Batty's Pet Dove @wearytraveler Baron von Costume Crash Test DumbassSo we're making progress on creating characters and I'm getting the hang of the first part of the campaign. I think it's time to set up an actual date and time for playing. How does Saturday June 8th 9 pm Eastern Daylight time strike everyone? If you don't have a character yet, there's still plenty of time to make one and Roll20 has actually done quite a bit to make it as easy as possible with the Charactermancer. You can also use the Compendium to drag and drop spells, feats, and gear into your character sheet. Also, I'm here if you need help.

That time should work for me as well. If anything comes up between now and then I'll let you know.

I have created my character on the Roll20 site. I still need to write up my character bio, so let me know if I did something wrong. Also, is there any way to change an archetype to a character's class on the Roll20 thing? In the campaign player guide thing, Rogue Spy is listed as a good archetype, and it doesn't appear to be too much different from a regular rogue. Here's the listing in the Advanced Player's Guide on the Paizo website: And do we need to choose one of the Campaign Traits from the campaign guide? I would choose "Young Reformer" but I don't know how one would go about indicating this on the character sheet on the Roll20 thing. I don't think anyone answered this yet for you so on the second tab on the character record sheet there's space to record "Features/Traits." Copy the "Young Reformer" info into there. You'll have to do it long-hand rather than a simple drag and drop since none of the campaign specific traits seem to be in the Roll 20 database at present. After that back over on the first tab of the character record sheet add +1 in the Misc column on the skills table for Disable Device and Local Knowledge since that's what that trait grants you (in addition to some other random ability thing).

Thanks! sarapen actually did address it though, in a lengthy post replying to a number of questions patbat and I had about our character sheets, and it's updated on the character sheets. And yeah, sorry you had to fill out so much of that stuff for me, sarapen, the Roll20 site was acting weird for me last night when I was filling all this info out, which had me worried that I was going to do something that would delete all my progress to that point, and I wasn't super familiar with how the character sheet worked either, but looking back at it today when I'm not slightly drunk, it all seems a lot more intuitive. I can definitely add stuff to my character sheet stuff in the future if it saves time for you.

Possibly--I won't know until closer to the date, as my wife and I are planning a vacation that week and I don't know when we're actually departing yet. I'll let you know more when I do.

patbat Nice job on the background by the way. Not too showy (some people write virtual novellas about how their character is the chosen one) but has enough detail to summarize a life story. Arcane Merchant is from a 3rd party source but I'mma let it ride. Which 3 skills did you put the bonuses in?

Probably, although I don't know my secondary work schedule yet (nor have I rolled up a character).

I forgot about this but there are also pregenerated level 1 characters already on Roll20. They're at the bottom of the Journal. If anyone wants to use one of those just say so. They still need a bit of customization, or you can completely alter them, but the gear and spells are all there already.

The 15th looks fine for me at present but it's still a ways away so if it changes between now and then I'll let you know.

Hey Roy Batty's Pet Dove I was looking through the rulebook expansion Ultimate Intrigue, the subclass Majordomo Investigator might fit your character concept more. Didn't you say your character was some kind of consigliere or adjutant or bat man or something? The Investigator class basically combines alchemist and rogue to essentially make Sherlock Holmes but the majordomo archetype removes the alchemy stuff and replaces it with being good at paperwork. Having typed that, I realize now that this majordomo thing doesn't sound that exciting. I think it's for if you want to be tracking down evil from records and stuff, like a fantasy Woodward and Bernstein. You don't have to switch your class if you're fine with Spy but I'm bringing this up for your information.

I stuck the background bonuses into Appraise, Knowledge (Arcana), and Spellcraft--my RPG style is "get super-good at the things you're good at" rather than "backfill deficiencies."

Hey Nudeviking, should we do anything story-wise with the fact that our characters are both refugees from Cheliax? Maybe they have some kind of history together.

My character's backstory was a child of refugees but she herself was born in Taldor. Depending on the age of your character you could have possibly known her parents but otherwise we'll just have to commiserate over how shitty Cheliax is.

My character escaped 30-ish years ago, so it's entirely possible she knew the Frugglemops back then, depending on when they left/how old they were when they had Bomo. Maybe that could play into how we ended up in the same party?

Aw, I didn't see this or I would have asked for a slot, but it seems like you'll have a lot on your plate keeping it all coordinated as it is. Please keep me in mind, though, if you need to replace anyone, or to tag in some NPC support.

sarapen so I was attempting to swap my 16 Intelligence and 17 Charisma and something went weird, so that now my Charisma is set at 19 and I'm unable to lower it. Can you edit my character sheet and set Intelligence at 17 and Charisma back down to 16? Also, exactly how much of a pain in the ass would it be to get that masterwork backpack? I have the cash for it, I just haven't been able to figure out how to handle having higher carrying capacity/lower encumbrance without actually having higher Strength.

Okay, so your Charisma and Intelligence swap looks fine. You have a +2 racial bonus as a half elf which you applied to Charisma in the beginning, which is why your Charisma stat says 18 right now, but when you hover over it the score goes to 16. I'm not sure where the 19 was coming from but it's okay now. Masterwork backpack lets you act like you have +1 in strength when calculating your carrying capacity, so I just added the +1 STR to carrying capacity for you. For future reference, where to do it is right here: See at the lower left corner of the image? You go to the Additional tab on the character sheet, click the gear icon in the Total Weight section, and replace the 0 with a 1 to the Strength box. I'm telling you this in case you ever cast any spells that temporarily increase your carrying capacity (I think it's called Ant Haul). Anyway, the masterwork backpack is 50 gp so I entered it for you and reduced your 60 gp to 10 gp.

Maybe a former / active burglar, some fencing and appraisal skills, like that.
