Maybe the rat didn't restart the van in the one of the posssible 14,600,005 futures but in all of them, and it was 14,600,004 futures in which the heroes still didn't beat Thanos? The rat is inevitable! Rats...find a way.

For the record, regarding my comments about Tony and his daughter - my selfishness means I would CONSIDER the same things as him. If I somehow had the key to saving half the galaxy/universe, then I would still risk it, I just would be very, VERY broken up about it.

It's only ineviteber if people give in and decide to start paying Disney and other enterprises for stuff that they were already getting as part of a package somewhere else. Three streaming services is already more than I need to pay for per month. I think you misunderestimate how much I hate Disney as a corporate entity, and also paying for things, but also, I boycott a ton of things, so one more isn't really so much 'choosing a hill' as much as adding some more dirt to the hill I'm already on. But if you and millions of others want to spend more to get the same things you were already getting, I'm not going to stop you. I guess I just don't think this is much of a new thing under the sun. It's the streaming age equivalent of Disney 'vaulting' their movies so they can goose sales of copies of Little Mermaid every time a new video format was released. The only realistic way I think you could prevent the way things were going would be some sort of regulatory mechanism that kept content creators/providers and delivery platforms from being owned by the same entity. I don't really think it's much of a 'new' thing, either, as much as just a swing of the pendulum. Spotify / Pandora and Netflix seem to work because they figured out that people are willing to spend a monthly fee for access to 'everything', but if CBS, EMI and Sony suddenly decided to only stream their own music on their own apps, music piracy would probably jump up again. Anecdotally, piracy already seems up after all the streaming services started to splinter, as if the video services are unlearning the lessons we learned a decade ago.

Also, with regards to Tony Stark and his daughter... it's his daughter. Like, I think that most people with small children are going to be that 'selfish' and believe that being fair and equitable to all people is less important in making sure their infant child stays in existence. That's a weird thing to be angry at Tony Stark for. The entire overarching storyline to the MCU has been the fact that Tony Stark is a self-centered prick. Most of the stuff he's done, both good and bad, as been out of a desire to be famous/powerful/rich/right/etc. Tony is selfish and arrogant, but also pretty grandiose. There have been a bunch of moments throughout the series where he's made choices which easily could have lead to his death. Stopping the engine/fan thing on the Helicarrier in Avengers, or going into the vortex to launch the nuke, etc. It's like he wants a big death, something to be remembered by.

Sam shouldn't be allowed to become the new Captain America solely because his beard runs down the middle of his cheek and not his jawline. Once he trims it, or grows a proper one, only then may he assume the mantle.

Clearly Sam is actually the perfect guy to become the new Captain America, as the chinstrap on the Captain America outfit will cover the gap between his beard and his jawline.
I also liked to joke that there was a little approving nod Bucky gave when Sam picked up the shield, as if to say, "Yes, I could also see myself having an unrequited crush on this Captain America, same as the previous one."

Overall, this was better than I expected- better than Infinity War, and a good tying-up of this set of movies. I like the concept of the time heist, and I think they did a good execution of it.
I skimmed through the previous pages, but I didn't see anyone mention what bothered me when evil 2014 Nebula switched in for good 2023 Nebula, other than that they should have been referred to collectively as "Nebulae" instead of "Nebulas", which is that she changed out her gold face plate for the impersonation, but not the arm that good Nebula burned retrieving the infinity stone- the replacement Nebula still has her good, unburned left hand when we see her undercover. I thought that Rhodes would have time to notice this and call her out on it, because he definitely noticed Good 2023 Nebula's hand as it was burned down to the exposed mechanical parts.
Also, still can't get past how stupid Thanos's plan generally is- killing half of all creatures balances nothing, the populations will just grow until in a few generations they reach the levels they were at before. And from someone's earlier comment about Ant Man looking at the birds and knowing the unsnap worked, we're left to assume creatures means all animals, not just intelligent ones. Presumably he left the plants, because we didn't see half the grass and trees disappear in Wakanda back in Infinity War, and because otherwise you'd have the same ratio of people to food supply as before (bad enough losing half our livestock), and therefore the same problems with hunger he claimed to be so worried about. But then why did Groot get killed?

A big reason why Endgame succeeded where Infinity War failed. Endgame didn't try to trear Thanos as anything other than a fully evil dictator who needed to get the shit kicked out of him.

It does wrap up the issue of Thanos's plan nicely. "Why would someone being presented as being an individual with a brain think this would achieve his desired goals? Oh, right, because he's a nutbag despot genocidal child abuser and he was always a nutbag despot genocidal child abuser"

Groot got killed because as was established in Guardians 1, “We are Groot,” and if Thanos’ snap can dust us (people) then it can dust Groot as well since we are Groot and Groot is us.

How would the character having less nuance be a positive Because Thanos in Infinity War wasn't a nuanced character, even if they tried to frame it that way, there just was no real substance which made the film grating. Also, you can have a good villain be one note, sometimes all it takes is just someone who is straight up evil and dangerous. Look at the original Halloween, Michael Meyers is one of the best movie villains and all he is is just a random murderer.

To address your Nebula question - the evil Nebula was wearing a glove to cover her unburned hand and, I think, a long sleeved jacket. I noticed it too but I think they covered it.

Thanos realizes his plan is stupid too, which is why he now wants to destroy and recreate the entire universe.

Since this has massive Endgame spoilers, imma bitch about it here.
I really like Tom Holland, I really like his Peter Parker, and I really liked Homecoming, and LET ME TELL YOU, I one MILLION percent DISAPPROVE of the kind of pressure they're putting on the kid who HASN'T EVEN GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL.
NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT IRON MAN jesus christ.

Heh, I was about to post this here also. Yeah, I agree, Iron Man's gone so the high school kid needs to step up? Hmm...

I mean, just knowing Mysterio’s whole schtick in the comics, there’s like a 99.9% chance that not-fake Nick Fury would actually agree with you.

No, I understand the in-movie reason. Just as a story telling choice, it seems like this will lead to a MarvelFlix-esque thing where everyone is waaaaay too nonchalant about what happened. Like, who is letting their kids go on this European school trip in Far From Home? The whole Far From Home thing is a lingering issue for me too (so Pete's whole school got dusted, and they're just picking up where they left off 5 years ago?). A friend of mine is theorizing that FFH, like Ant Man and Wasp, takes place before IW. It does resolve a lot of questions that way and they can still just not have Stark in the movie on the grounds that he sent Favreau to look after him. Maybe a voice cameo or something. The shot of Peter on the bus at the beginning of IW is him returning from that trip. Whoops.

1) It's funny having Tom Holland talk about "hey, this has spoilers". 2) WAIT TOM HOLLAND ISN"T USAAN? Well, at least we still have Dr. House, right? 2a) Hugh Laurie would have been a better Dr. Strange than Benedict Cucumberbatch.

I've been thinking this afternoon about how much I loved Professor Hulk traveling back to the Avengers battle and half-heartedly shoving things and "roar"ing.
I want to see this again. It's playing on all screens at the IMAX theater downtown.
