After an argument spirited debate in the Shoutbox, it was necessary to put this question to the great mass of the TIF. Is Terminator 2 or Fury Road a better action movie? Feel free to justify your wrong opinion below if you vote for Fury Road.

I think it all depends on what a viewer wants out of a movie. I voted T2, it is easy to have recency bias and say Fury Road, but T2 is amazing. The thing about T2 is that it takes time to slow down and give a lot of great character moments. Mad Max is just action, action, action, some more action, and oh look action, the whole way through. They do enough to define the characters, but T2 knocks it out of the park for an action movie. The T-1000 is also a better antagonist than Immortan Joe, that's a simple fact. Sarah Conner also a better main character than either Max or Furiosa. Also, the mental hospital scene!

I'm not as all-in on Fury Road as some, but T2 is kind of portentous and all the pseudo-philosophical stuff drags it down for me, so I'm voting the Shiny/Chrome ticket in this one.

Also they're two different kinds of movies, T2 & Fury Road. One is a gleefully bombastic pageant of over-the-top action in a barren post-apocalyptic wasteland, clawing for survival and realizing there can be hope if you allow yourself to see (or maybe that hope is just for other people because you refuse to let yourself heal at all )
The other is grimy, ugly, desperately-fighting-off-the-robot-overlord-apocalypse action even though you are a fragile human & trying to convince yourself you alone can avert it if you just try hard enough & fuck anyone who gets in your way oh my god I love Sarah Connor so much. (you can't, of course. it's inevitable. although you don't know that because no-one knows they're in Dracula.)
I ...might have gone off the track re: just the "action" part of the question.
*also please put Ellen Ripley in there I want her and and Sarah Connor to be girlfriends

Not only is T2 inferior to Fury Road, it is inferior to the original in its own series (unless you want to separate the two by placing the original in the Horror category, which you should).
