Well my friend and I are talking about The Stand and doing casting, so I was going to make this thread just for The Stand, but I figured it won't be the only thing people want to fancast. But right now, it's The Stand.
Guys, I am violently against James Marsden as Stu Redman. Just...no. Stu's a good ol boy. Marsden is very shiny, and no I haven't seen Westworld, but even in the screencaps I see he looks too polished. I mean he went to PC North, ffs.*
I'm for Jensen Ackles as Stu; that kid is bowlegged af and straight outta Texas.
Bet you fifty bucks they could get Daniel Radcliffe for The Kid (if they're including The Kid). That dude LOVES doing anti-Potter-like roles and he would eat that role alive, which is what it needs.
Gusav Skarsgaard for Trashy, but that seems like typecasting, and better than we deserve.
Which leads to: I definitely see the appeal of Goggins as Flagg, but hear me out - Travis Frimmel. He would be fucking amazing.
*the "snooty" public school in OKC; I had forgotten Marsden was from here

Walton Goggins is the correct choice for any role.

Yeah Marsden would probably be better as Larry, he is basically a punching bag in Westworld.
It might be too much on the nose, but I would see Timothy Olyphant as a decent Stu.

I always pictured Willem Dafoe as Flagg but I think it's a few years too late for that

While I seem to be nearly the only person left that still enjoys Hot Boys Fighting Monsters, one of the good things about it coming to an end after 15 (!) seasons is that Ackles will get to do other things. He's an incredibly enjoyable actor to watch, he's got some chops, and it will be good to see what else he can do now HBFM is over. In short, I agree. Not-The-Stand fan casting. Since it seems there will be a new version of Hitch-Hikers Guide To The Galaxy, I want to anti-cast and say I don't want Stephen Fry as The Book. While I can see why he's an understandable choice for the movie (the name alone, the quintessential Englishness etc) for the TV show? No. Nobody, absolutely nobody, can be better than Peter Jones so... just use Peter Jones (as in, use his extracts from the TV show or radio series - obviously I know he's dead). But failing that... Dame Judi Dench. She has a perfect voice for it. Aged, but with a wicked glint, stentorian but kindly, she would nail the everloving fuck out of The Book.

I would love to see him in a flat-out comedy. I rather suspect he's gonna take off a big chunk of time though, hang out with his kids and focus on the brewery for a while.
A new Hitchhiker's TV show? I had not heard! Judi Dench would be really good for the Book, you're right. I think I'll nominate Hugh Laurie for Slartibartfast. I miss funny British Hugh Laurie!!
