Has there ever been a crime procedural that didn't eventually do this? Or, if not, what's the longest a show has gone before they did it?

Yeah, in the 90s revival, there was one where someone "killed" his wife (technically, tried to, but they pretended the killer had been successful to get her to implicate herself). |

Amazingly, considering how show being incredibly regular and consistent, I think Law & Order hit the “this time it’s personal button” fairly early and often (I only see it when I’m at home with parents during the holidays so I lack the encyclopedic knowledge of some, but one of the few that sticks out in my memory was that Dr. Olivet faced her rapist back when Paul Sorvino was still on the show).
