I’m not super on top of what’s canon these days but...Boba feeling compelled to keep helping Mando even after he got what he wanted feels a bit at odds with the amoral bounty hunter of the past, yea? He's sometimes been portrayed as having a code before, so this squares with that version. His portrayal has never been 100% consistent, in part because he's been in the EU since even before Empire came out, and before anyone tried to make sense out of the EU.

Canon Boba Fett is pretty sparse for characterization. We have a little kid in Episode II, an angry kid in some of the Clone Wars Cartoon, and a guy with like 2 lines for Episodes V and VI. Leaving out the EU, we got a ton of room to work with.

No one does scuzzy quite like Richard Brake.
Also, Burr's a better actor than I would have given him credit for. He really sold that scene where he was barely holding in his rage.

So bc he passed the face scan thing did Din Djarin have a stint with the Empire/Remnant? I took it as that he wasn't in any criminal databases. My guess is that the imperial remnant was conscripting people quickly enough and churning through those conscripts fast enough that they weren't bothering to put everyone in the system, and the face scan was more an accountability-after-the-fact thing than a true security measure. I figured that the terminal probably worked on the beehive principal, where they'd fight to keep anyone who didn't belong out, but once you were in it was assumed that you belonged there.

My favorite explanation is that it's their in-universe version of CAPTCHA. They are quite literally making sure you are not a robot.
*I actually think it was a really sloppy way to get to the situation they wanted, but it's fine. I don't care a whole lot.

Well, I finally started this show and caught up over the last week. I thought it was going to be more Lone Wolf & Cub but Mando's not as much of a taciturn badass, since we do actually see him getting his ass kicked. Despite covering his face all the time, he appears to have some odd kind of vanity since he always has a mustache whenever we see him with the helmet off. I know that women in full burkas sometimes wear makeup underneath, but at least they can show it off to other women and to their kids and husbands. Who is Mando styling his mustache for but himself?
Also, I totally didn't recognize Michael Biehn until the credits came up in that Ahsoka Tano episode. Another thing I discovered from the credits was that Danny Inosanto's kid (Bruce Lee's goddaughter) played the villain in that episode, which was kind of a neat thing to learn.

Thanks Mandalorian for making a grown ass man cry like a baby. The only minor quibble I had was the lack of at least a hint of the the original theme music

I hope, now that Boba’s done with his debt of honor or whatever, that he becomes the amoral-to-cruel bastard he kind of seemed to be in Empire. I kind of liked that Bo Katan looked down on him for being a clone, though I am not sure how that fits into Mandalorian culture. Wookieepedia says that Jango was a foundling too, but I guess a clone of a foundling is too far removed from their line of succession?

I assume they didn't know who his father was immediately, and he didn't seem to give enough of a shit to clarify other than the armor was his father's (unless I missed some other statement before he started fighting with Koska).

I figured they knew him from his voice. Even so Jango could be an outcast given his unconventional work or just to Bo Katan because of her experiences with Clone Troopers in particular.

My guess is that it's one of those things where different groups of Mandalorians will look at him differently. He seems to count by Din's rules, and not by Bo-Katan's. I'm thinking we're going to be getting a deep dive on Mandalorian culture in season 3.

I haven’t made it through Clone Wars yet, but aren’t clones in general looked at as unnatural abominations? Or is that an old canon thing? and I mean, if “descendants of a foundling” counted as Mandalorians, then wouldn’t ALL clones be considered in the line of succession? They’re all clones of Jango; she’s got no way to know this particular clone is Jango’s special free-range kid, right?

HE TOOK THE BABY *cries in Star War* you better fix this, Favreau, I neeeeeeed bebe Yoda on my screen
I’m glad Gideon lived, and not just cause I love Giancarlo Esposito. I like him as a villain; he’s so good as an unyielding, sneering bastard. and unpopular opinion, unless there has been investigation on Fett’s personality in other media I haven’t seen, there’s no real indication that he’s actually amoral and/or cruel. Everything we saw him do in the less-than-seven-minutes he had in Empire and Jedi is pretty much how Din Djarin was presented in the first episode of The Mandalorian. There’s “presenting a cold unfeeling front” because you’re a bounty hunter and need to intimidate, and then there’s “being actually vicious ”.

Presumably the animosity is because the Mandalorians witnessed the whole Order 66 thing and they know most clones were compromised.

Kind of amazing how much story got squeezed out of that one named mook whose main appeal was that he dressed pretty nice.

The Mandalorians seem like dicks in general. They all seem like zealots to one degree or another, but it’s never quite clear to me what their zealotry is in the service OF, other than Mandalore. I can understand the motivation of “someone took what is ours/treated us badly & we want to beat the shit out of them” , but I always have problems with “X political position is my right”. I always assume that it’s largely because my brain is too American to believe that being a ruler is ever a right in a non-fantasy-pseudo-or-real historical situation (and even that is not a sure way to get me to go with it,*coughDaeneryscough*)

Dany in GoT is a pretty good comp, actually (hopefully sticks the landing better...).

Gina Carano managed to finally get herself fired, and it was 100% a self-inflicted wound. Hope they just recast Cara Dune.
