I don't partake since I live in a country where I would legitimately go to jail for less time if I committed sex crimes than I would if I got caught smoking a joint.

It's been legal in Illinois since Jan 2020 and some of the novelty has worn off. We have some gummies and a chocolate bar that have been hanging around since Christmas - they're both legitimately tasty candy but it doesn't seem to do much for my husband and getting high alone is boring. But I might buy a new vape pen soon as a different delivery method.
Mostly I'm wondering if I should use that as an alternative to weekend drinking because my stupid doctor is monitoring my liver function (and I swear to you I do not drink in excess, but whatever).

I don't partake, and the three times I did I felt nothing at all. But I'll use this thread's placement on the food board to make an adjacent comment:
I tried a weed beer once (no THC) and it was profoundly awful. One of the grossest things I have ever tasted. Instant drain pour. What was crazy is that it was from New Belgium. The Fat Tire people. I wouldn't expect them to put out something like that at all, and much less that I'd be able to buy it at my local Kroger, but there it was.

I've never been that big on weed*, preferring psychedelics back in my druggie days, but if it was legalised in the UK I could see it becoming a Friday night treat for yrs truly. Not sure how close that is to happening, despite the former leader of the Conservatives saying yesterday that it should be.
*I've probably told you this before, but: heading home on the bus one night after class in about 2003, I spied a cigarette case on the seat. I picked it up, idly thinking I'd hand it in to the driver when I got off. Then I noticed a familiar-looking leaf embossed on the front, and had a little peek inside - 21 freshly rolled joints. I elected not to hand it in to the driver after all. A person more knowledgeable than I assured me it was better than your common or garden variety, too. Even then, not being that big on it, I parcelled them out over a few months.

There was a poll in the TMI section a few years back. I would be a daily dabbler if I could summon the will to ask anyone, which I might do this weekend at the local flea market - because it's been a while. I had some I'd grown at the beginning of 2021. Now I just have some butter from the trim of last year's grow. Should last me a good stretch. I don't do it every weekend. Getting older, and all. And, it's not the same as a puff, frankly. I do, however, pine for the many splendoured things in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and other states with legal recreational cannabis. Like, hearing about the penny pre-rolls available in some locations drove me outta my mind! Spend $50 and get pre-rolls for a penny (limit 10, or some such thing)? Yes, double please. In closing, "I don't have to sell my soul. I've done the Demon Weed.... six or seven times now? In edible and smokeable form. I've only really felt anything once. But it's nice! Smoking with a friend is a nice ritual! Psychoactive effects aside I can see why people want to do this! Unfortunately I now have no friends and live a full hour's drive from the closest legal weed shop, so social toking is off the agenda for now, but when I move back to BC it'll be nice.

Despite growing up in the 70's, I was such a nerd that I never smoked pot. With a dispensary open locally, Mrs. Floyd and I have been doing edibles fairly often lately, and I just recently got my medical card. There are several conditions this is prescribed for me for, but especially for arthritis pain. The most effective thing for me has been these 2:1 CBD to THC gummies. They really do seem to reduce the pain, and sometimes they even help me sleep.
