The Paramount+/CBS series.
The Columbo formula is incredibly enduring (see also Poker Face on Peacock). Take an eccentric detective, show the viewer exactly whodunnit and how, and reveal how the good guys figure it out and slap the cuffs on the evildoer.
So Elsbeth is a spinoff from The Good Wife and The Good Fight, although unlike those shows, it is not a legal procedural (although there is a throughline that involves Elsbeth ferreting out potential corruption at the highest levels of the NYPD, which may bring in legal issues, but having only seen the first episode, I don't know).
It's available on iTunes now, which is how I'm watching it. And my take is so far, so good.
