Bonnie "Prince" Billy - "I See A Darkness" (From "Now Here's My Plan") Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - "Henry Lee" Sean Lennon - "Dead Meat" Mr. Bungle - "Pink Cigarette" Soulsavers - "Paper Money"
I forgot to put my whole iPod on shuffle this morning, so this is a much more curated selection; it's from my "Songs I Wish People Would Sing On 'The Voice', Because I Love That Show So Much But I Hate The Music On It With The Passion Of A Thousand Fiery Suns, And In An Alternate Universe That Show Would Have Much Cooler Taste In Music" playlist.

Lot of "A"s here--I think Media Player's getting on a bit.

*My friend's late grandfather from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, who put out an album of Finnish-American folk music some years back.

Going to take a wild guess from the Spider J icon & assume you've read Doktor Sleepless: is it "Authenticity Is Shit" posting time? 'cos I've got it right here...

Rush--Distant Early Warning I think Grace Under Pressure might be my favorite Rush album. I don't think there are many people that can say that.

I wholeheartedly recommend that you go watch The Neverending Story. ;-) I just looked it up; is it wrong I want to show this to my 5 year old? I saw it in the theater when it came out - I was 10. I'd feel comfortable showing it to a 5-year-old, but I'd probably watch it on my own first just to know where a few slightly spooky scenes are (but that's me - I'm not a parent). There's a big-bad-wolf-esque character (Gmork) that could be a little scary for the young'ns. Also, the general premise is that the world of imagination is being destroyed by "The Nothing", which is kind of existentially scary (but might just be seen by a kid as a big spooky cloud that destroys stuff). JUST AVOID THE SEQUELS, THEY ARE TERRIBLE.

The commute home today, which was a fucking disaster (presumably parents leaving work early to take the kids out).
Harry Nilsson — “Poli High” The Mary Dream — “Stuck” Sam Means — “Savannah (Instrumental)” Hindu Rodeo — “Viola D'amour” The Broken West — “Slow” The Rosenbergs — “Pushing Up Daisies” The Hang Ups — “Curtis” Moonpools and Caterpillars — “Soon” The Beatles — “What's The New Mary Jane” Camper Van Beethoven — “Balalaika Gap” The Essex Green — “Bald” Luce — “Amsterdam” Ben Kweller — “Commerce, TX”

My actual playlist for the whole Halloween was Spotify mixes of Big Bill Broonzy, then the Glen Miller Orchestra.
