Summary:
Greggs and McNulty lean on one guy picked up in the raid but he refuses to cooperate. The lunkheads head out to interrogate Bodie, the kid who clocked the cop and was subsequently beaten, but he has already escaped the low security hospital. They barge through Bodie's grandmother's house without any luck but Herc shows a softer side as he stops to listen to the grandmother's story.
D'Angelo bristles at being seen as soft and relates a story of killing one of his uncle's girlfriends to Bodie and the other kids.
McNulty and his partner are given a seemingly unrelated homicide case but agree to look into it. It looks just like the description D'Angelo was giving.
Bubbles tells Greggs that a guy named Omar is responsible for stealing Barksdale's stash and that he is not one to mess with. Bubble goes with McNulty to McNulty's kid's soccer game where we see some family stress. When dropped off, Bubbles says, "There is a thin line between heaven and here."
Omar tells his people that they need to lay low. During a basketball game Avon puts a bounty on Omar and his people while talking about how Omar is gay.
Back at the office Daniels is asking for suggestions. Greggs suggests cloning a pager, and talks about how they have to show a judge that they exhausted all other options. Freamon comes through yet again with D'Angelo's pager number which he got off the wall of the stash house and verified. McNulty is impressed and takes him out for a drink to get his story. Freamon refused to go easy on a criminal with connections and ended up pushing paper for 13 years and 4 months. McNulty shows up at Greggs house drunk and thanks her for pushing the pager option.
Random thoughts:
Ok, ok, the scene with McNulty and his partner investigating the crime scene using only various forms of the word 'fuck' was brilliant. Those two have a lot of chemistry together.
I got a pretty bad feeling from Bubble's last statement, foreshadowing?
I liked how Stringer was setting up shots for Avon in the basketball game, reflecting his role as queen to Avon's king.
Lester Freamon is "natural police."
