Yes, it's performed by a bunch of old white guys on a 1960's big band show sponsored by Geritol and hosted by a walking corpse, but this still rocks. I want some of whatever that guy on maracas is on.

Did farmer stuff all day. Drove the tractor, moved bales of hay, bled the brakes on an old truck.

I re-read the Quietus feature about Dial M for Motherfucker from 2014, written as a 25-year revisiting of its arrival. Boy howdy do I reaffirm that this record is a groundbreaker, genre shaker. Nothing I've heard had revitalised rock and roll in such a way since. That I had this record since 1990 and still affects me strongly says something to me, at least. Also, get thee to the Quietus before their web-presence disappears. The above link shows their SSL certificates are no longer being updated, meaning they haven't paid their bills in one way or another. Four guitars at once mayhem. No bass. Just wrecking shit with a now forgotten fervour. The traps' kit is also something to hear with new ears. Respect for the dead. The Undertaker has arrived.

Still one of my favorites of all time, Elder is on the short list of bands I will make ridiculous efforts to see any time they are playing within a hundred miles. Their new album comes out two days after my birthday.

The best triple album of all time. 44 songs in under an hour with only 3 of those songs breaching the 2 minute mark where no riff or melody hangs around long enough to get stale.

Thinking back to that long hiatus between Pinkerton and the Green Album when people were concerned with there being not enough Weezer instead of too much Weezer. In the interim, Rivers Cuomo recorded this for the Meet the Deedles soundtrack album with members of Cake and Soul Coughing, in the most 1998 sentence I can conceive of.

When I graduated from catholic school, I should have sworn I would only every wear ties as headbands from there on out.

U2 is releasing a live album of Achtung Baby to all fanclub members this year. It has become clear over the last decade of U2 fanclub releases that they record every one of their concerts. (This one is from a 1992 concert in Texas.) As evidenced by this live recording, some of these are FANTASTIC performances. It'd be super cool if they'd just let the fanclub members request the live recordings we want. There is a 2005 performance of "Discotheque" that I saw in Las Vegas that was incredible, several orders of magnitude better than the studio version. Would love to have that. Just saying. There's also a performance of Ultraviolet from 1993 that I only have in bootleg form, and I'd love the version from the U2 soundboard.

I've been searching for this version of this song for years now. I had the album, which was released on Peter Pan records in the 80's, right around the time I got to see the good Commander at Panama Red's, my second home in Champaign IL. Some degins stole it, along with the rest of my record collection. They should burn in hell. One of my favorite places in the entire world, lone gone now, was the old cafe in my hometown, which was owned and operated by Francie, this sweet little old lady who looked 100 years old. The place had been there since maybe the 30's, and was pretty run down my my time, but I loved it. It had three booths and eight barstools at the counter. I now own five of those bar stools, along with a few other bits and pieces of the place. In the winter, snow would blow in between the wall and floor. A tree held up the south wall. The game warden had accidently shot a hole in the floor. You could jump on that floor in the middle of the building and tilt the pinball machine in the southeast corner. It was open five days a week from 5 or 6 AM till about 2 or 3 AM most nights. More than once, Francie would say to us "Will you boys lock the front door when you go home?" It's name wasn't Buddy's, but Francie's Cafe reminds me a lot of Rock and Roll.
