Great remake of a great piece from the wonderful movie "Local Hero", created for US and UK cancer charities and featuring a boatload of top tier musicians. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and watch "Local Hero". It's fuckin awesome.

Such a classic. I've mentioned it on the TIF before that my father basically blocked any viewing of a Burt Lancaster movie. Why? Because his mother was demonstrably horny for him (same with Charleton Heston).

If you haven't seen it, I would recommend it.

I posted in the RIP thread about the great Italian classical pianist Maurizio Pollini dying recently. I strongly encourage any of you who listen to classical music to check out his Chopin recordings and live performances on YouTube.
This is a great place to start:

When you watch films/shows set in the future and get annoyed when the characters listen to music from hundreds of years ago (a la Star Trek) keep in mind that we here today still listen to music from 400+ years ago. This one is from 459 years ago. The piece, not the performance, obviously.
No autotune or pitch correction on that! They are using real tuning, not tempered. So, using pitch correction/autotune would result in them sounding *less* in tune. Also, the highest voice singer gets a note wrong at one point and immediately corrects it. Really glad they leave these videos as is so people can hear what REAL TUNING sounds like.
