Now taking nominations for albums released in August of a bygone year. Our July installment, The Beach Boys' Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), is still ongoing. August 2005August 2000August 1995August 1990August 1985August 1980August 1975August 1970August 1965(For the years 1980-2005, be sure to scroll down to August entries.) Please limit the anniversary to multiples of five or ten for simplicity’s sake. Also, please limit your selections to two albums. Capital-C-classic records, underrated slow burners, overrated hits, and curiosities are all appropriate for discussion. Additionally, as records are released at different times by country, we’ll be flexible on that point. However, any album nominated in the prior Anniversary Record Club is not eligible. Thanks for participating and nominate away.

Klaus Schulze - Timewind (1975) It's too hot to think, so let's just zone out to some German space music.

While I’d love a chance to talk about The Supersuckers’ Sacrelicious Sounds of the Supersuckers I’m sure I’d be the only one, so I’ll instead nominate Willie Nelson’s misguided reggae album Countryman from 2005 and the Jane’s Addiction classic Ritual de lo Habitual from 1990.

From 1965, Highway 61 Revisited.
From 1975, Born To Run.
As, you know, how could I not.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, "Howl", 2005 Ooh, that's a good one. A really interesting album from a not-very-interesting band.

Original Flavor Record Club is taking the month off. I've got issues.

Original Flavor Record Club is taking the month off. I've got issues. Hope it isn't anything bad, ganews, and thanks for the inspiration in managing this silliness. (If he's posted about his "issues" elsewhere, forgive me, as I don't read the TI much beyond the Music Board.)

Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo habitual (1990)
Ooop, I didn't see that Munster already nominated that, so I'll nominate something similar:
LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out (1990)

I considered nominating Deluxe but thought Klaus Schulze's Timewind would be more accessible to the masses. However, glad to see Harmonia has supporters, particularly with Dieter Moebius' passing.

I skimmed through this and didn’t notice you’d recommended Timewind—I’ve always thought Harmonia was an easier listen than Schulze, myself.

The Beach Boys - "Sunflower" (1970).
Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band - "Doc at the Radar Station" (1980).
One, a comeback for a beloved niche-artist. The other, a moderate success for a group of then-has-beens that history has looked upon with more favor than they probably anticipated.

I'm sorry, Pops Freshenmeyer, but I closed down the nominations around noon today and posted the poll. I should have added a note to this thread that it was closed.
