Progressive metal oddities Cormorant have debuted a new track from their upcoming 3rd LP, continuing their tradition of all-over-the-map-ness which makes them both hard to recommend and hard not to. Basically, this is a band every metal fan should be repping: cormorant.bandcamp.com/Also, 'dat album art:

I guess this is my very own mini-Loud thread at the moment. Anyway, does anyone know about Windhand? I just heard them on Sirius radio last night, and they're so in my wheelhouse they should have named their band Smacky's Wheelhouse. @alcapwne This is your shit for sure. Fuck yeah: Windhand - Soma
Also, anyone into Cloudkicker? I liked what I heard from them too. I am just catching up on the loud thread and adding a bunch of shit to my Pandora stations. Have to agree on Windhand, the best one that I have listened to so far, thanks for turning me onto them.

Somehow I've slept on Tragedy for over 10 years, until last week when I finally checked them out. Fuck me, this shit is awesome and I've been wasting time.

So yeah about two days after I had heard this band for the first time I found out they were playing a free show in a little bar in Canton. It was an inconvenient night for me but I couldn't miss it. It was really good live, but the chick was so cool. I was telling her how much I loved the band on first listen and how great she was and she gave me a really awesome t-shirt.

If what you hear from the new one doesn't appeal to you, try their first record, Metazoa. It's a little more melodic than what they're doing these days. Recommended: Scavenger's Feast, Hanging Gardens.

Killer Be Killed ("supergroup" with Max Cavalera of Sepultura fame, along with members of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mastodon, and The Mars Volta): www.metalsucks.net/2014/05/07/killer-killed-album-premiere/Not quite my thing, but way better than I was expecting. To be honest, I was expecting it to suck.

My thoughts here: tolerabilityindex.freeforums.net/post/53069/threadBasically, I like it, but it sounds like Cavalera and friends, when I'd rather have Puciato and friends or Sanders and friends (hell, maybe even Elitch and friends).

Well damn it all to hell, sorry about that, I've been having trouble keeping up with all the threads around here lately. I basically feel the same way you do, a little more Dillinger/Mastodon and a little less Soulfly would do wonders here. B- for me. And I forgot all about Trap Them, I do enjoy them, thanks for the heads up!

Those songs are good songs.
Once upon a time there was a band called Taint. Taint were from Wales. Taint were incredible. They sounded like this:
and this:
but then, in 2010, Taint were no more.
Time passed.
In 2014 there's a band called Hark. Hark sound like Taint because it's the same fella doing the guitars/vocals. I like Hark.

You got some Melvins, some Clutch, all sorts of great influences. I love it. And so anyway I thought this band was a little to derivative at first but damned if this song isn't growing on me like a fungus. They play it a lot on Liquid Metal. Kyng - Burn The Serum

LOUD THREAD BACK FROM THE DEAD SOMETHINGSOMETHING BREEEAAAD
Today I'm listening to the new album from Unfun called Shores of Lake Erie on the back of a recommendation from a friend who described it as 'Sounds like if 1980's SWANS covered an Off With Their Heads song. Filthy as fuck 90's style downtrodden punk rock for people who are miserable and want to be more miserable.'
It's pretty great:
What else is LOUD and PRETTY GREAT these days?

monodroneI'm really enjoying the latest Dillinger album so thanks again for the response. I don't know if you've listened to Killer Be Killed but this is the song that really got me into his vocals. It's by far my favorite on the album. For me, him and Troy together are as great as...well, Troy and Brent Hinds. Melting of My Marrow

Yes! It's one of my favourite albums of the year so far along with Mastodon's and Empress AD's. That track is probably my number 1 as well with the Toolesque final track close behind. Great supergroup.

Wild Throne. Unhinged prog rock reminiscent of early The Mars Volta. One of my most played records from 2014. (Granted it's a 3-track EP). wildthrone.bandcamp.com/

Great supergroup. That Empress track is great!! Gonna have to get more familiar with them too. Listening to the new Yob "Clearing the Path to Ascend"if anyone's in a doomy mood. It's really beautiful.

So this new Mastodon video... (NSFW) Wow. In slow motion, it kind of looks like their butts are clapping. I'm not really feeling the song though--did this album come out yet?
