Hi! I'm Wafflicious and I made this account a while ago and promptly forgot all about it. I would have kept forgetting about it too, but I think I'll be hanging with you guys here until I stop being stalked at the AVC. I've been hanging around for many a year (the AV Club got me through the worst of the boredom when I lived in Japan in 2004. I've always had Hank Venture as an avatar despite being of the female persuasion. But to be fair, I am often making this face when I post so it works out well. I should make this official... Howdy, I'm Dr. Jacoby. I go by the same name over on the AVC... I'm not a big time poster but I've been around on the AVC for about 6 years or so, and I'm active enough there that a few people here will recognize me. Oh and I'm friends with tyrone, who mentioned me a few posts above, and was the one who got me to take another look at this place. I've been lurking on here since close to the time these boards were created but never really found much to post about, but I'm trying to finally get more active here. I'm a big tv and movie watcher... right now I'm in mourning for my beloved Looking, enjoying slowly making my through Bloodline, and just trying to hold out until Season 3 of Hannibal finally takes off. And I'm currently reading The Magician King by Lev Grossman (loving it) and How Fiction Works by James Wood (barely tolerating it). Welcome Home! |

Hi, I'm mnemos. I'm from MA and I enjoy Lorrie Moore, The Americans, and Dark Souls, to name a few. I found this place a while ago but forgot about it until now. I never posted much on the AVC but I've been reading its articles and comments for too many years to count. I'm mostly here because the board(s) I usually post on aren't terribly active these days and I need somewhere to discuss my various pop culture obsessions.

Hey everybody, it's Friday night, and I haven't visited the AV Club in two weeks, so I thought I should finally check out the forum. Let's start with the re-introduction.
Well, I don't know what to tell you, so here are just a few random facts. I've been the AV Club's resident German poster/SNL apologist for a few years now and was part of its gay mafia, I write screenplays for a living, I just celebrated my 37th birthday this month, I have a husband and a dog named Wi-Fi, I read way too many Marvel comics at the moment, I think I've been in some kind of depression the past few months but feel better now, I own more than 150 t-shirts, I've never drank a drop of alcohol, I just had to think way too long if it's "never drank" or "never drunk", my pet peeve is people saying "could of/would of/should of", I'm not allergic to anything, Brooks Wheelan replied to one of my Tweets yesterday and it made me way too happy, and I still have a Livejournal which I use about thrice a year.
I also watched Broad City's Knockoffs-episode today and declare it one of the Top Ten TV Episodes of the Year.

Hello everybody,
I'm Mugen, or MarvMugen (used to love Sin City and Samurai Champloo, still do the latter) on the AV Club. Don't really know what to say but feel like a proper introduction is the way to go. IceCreamPlanet invited me here after a talk on the What did you do this weekend?-comment thread. It's the comment thread most overflowing with nice people and positive stuff so I really enjoy reading it. The rest of AV Club is really nice too (I especially follow the comic articles) most of the time. Anyway, it seems like a nice place to hang out and even though I don't have much time lately, I'd like to get to know more cool stuff through you and have interesting dialogues.
A bit about me, I am male, in my twenties, living in Japan for the foreseeable future. It's what I studied in uni and feel very lucky to be able to work and live here. Together with English and America, a language and culture I've always been fascinated by.
I love movies and shows more than anything. MOre than any show, I am a huge fan of Friday Night Lights. There's a bunch of other shows and movies too but I always feel silly making lists.
Always liked comics too but that tends to go in waves. I had a comic period, then a manga one, now I'm back into comics.
I found the AV Club years ago but only read the articles at first. Then during an internship, I had a little bit too much time and got lost in the comment threads. When I found my way out, I had a made an account and started to post here and there.

The bad stuff now: I don't ever play video games because I get angry instead of having fun and I haven't seen a single episode of The Simpsons.

Oh hey, an introduction thread! I'm on AV Club as ShulkieSmash, but my actual name is Anji. (Well, it's a nickname for Angela, but only my parents call me Angela, so it counts.) I live north of Baltimore and commute to just outside of Washington, DC four times a week for my job, which is editing behavioral health publications as a government contractor. I have a culinary school degree that I currently use to feed my loved ones, because food is how I show affection. I'm also a relative newbie to Marvel/DC comics, having only been reading them regularly for about three years or so. Hm, what else? I'm a lesbian and single; I have major depressive disorder with a whopping side of anxiety; I dye my hair red because it's actively turning grey already and I look better as a redhead; and The Simpsons, Animaniacs, and Dave Barry were pretty much my childhood formative influences re: humor. I apologize in advance.

First off, I'd like to apologise for my username, it is my own name and reflects my general lack of creativity. I vow to come up with a witty one at some point, in the near future, definitely-probably. I rarely post on the AVC (or should that be "old country"?), though I love the place and try to upvote loads. I recently found out about this forum, had a look round, and immediately felt intimidated, but thought; if I can't muscle in on interesting strangers social circles while sheltered with the relative anonymity of the web, then there is no hope - so here I am!  I'm great at Netflix, nevertheless, must start reading more - the Books Board being one of the many delights that drew me here. So, I broke down and registered here because it got mentioned in a couple of threads where we were bitching about disqus. Funny, because I tended to almost always skip the actual TI back at the home site, and never had the patience to try to use disqus for the kind of extended conversations people apparently managed to have under the TI and "Community season finale from last season" comments. As you probably figured, I'm edked, same name & avatar as back at the old place. My first name really is "Ed," maybe I'll say more over time... Did I do one of these already? Apparently so. |

Toker online. Vivian to those who know me. The AV is one of my most frequented communities thanks to the extent of its coverage. I'm in my twenties and still have some education to take care of when I'm not doing shifts. I'm friends with most of my co-workers thankfully. You could probably guess by my username that I have a few vices that carry me through the average week. I get nerdy to stuff like Final Fantasy, math, and I love those shows most of you probably love like Hannibal and Sealab 2021. When I have some time to spare I hang out with the animals at a local nonprofit where I assist with the training for newbies. I should probably wrap this up before I overshare.
