I've been lurking over at the AVC since the turn of the century. Started posting a year or so ago. Just deleted my Disqus account after a major depressive episode. Came here because I can't sleep.

Hi. I've been a heavy lurker on the AVC since the early 00s, and began commenting (sparingly) a couple of years ago. I spend hours a day reading comments on the AVC. The recent articles feed (which I expect will disappear) is my home page. It's the center of my internet. Browsing the AVC comments is, to be honest, a major self-soothing activity for me. Or, rather, it has been until now. Kinja and the accompanying site design aesthetic are repellant to me (and caused me to stop browsing io9 and Lifehacker years ago). In fact I can't think of a website aesthetic I hate more. Even if the content stays the same (it won't), the experience is going to be irritating. I'm scared. Hold me? |

Hey - it's me, Ack_Ack. Once again forced to change my name. Now I'm AckAck. This is my fifth name change since I started at the AV Club. From Ack! to Ack to Ack Ack to Ack_Ack. They wouldn't let me add any spaces to my screen name, which is odd because looking around, it appears as though others were. Anyway, I'm here now. Kinjacolypse is moments away.

The last of the strong ties to the start of the ISU renaissance are gone now. No Hoiberg or Niang or Morris anymore. They've got some interesting pieces and keeping the NCAA tourney streak alive is definitely doable, I think, but now it really feels like starting over for the first time in 7 years or so. |
