Other parts of the internet get angry about anyone other than white men having anything good happen to them -- we just get angry when something shitty happens to our internet commenting experience! Oh, I took German in high school, as well. But all I remember how to say is "Ich habe das Auto gegessen." (Which means I have eaten the car). I barely remember high school German, aside from a skit my friends and I put on, in which former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor was my ex-wife and our son was obsessed with the 700 Club. I did a sketch in the talent show about a ninja-based home security system. A door-to-door person shows up from "Pat Robertson's 700 Club!" and gets jumped and hillariously beaten to an implied death. The fundamentalist christian who ran a wonderful local charity providing smart girls from the inner city with a home and chance to attend our rich, high-ranking suburban school, was upset, because Robertson's organization had helped them raise money. So on the one hand I felt bad, and signed the letter of apology the director wrote. On the other hand we both agreed, "What the fuck is wrong with you if you can't see how fucking nuts that guy is, no matter WHAT good he might incidentally do?" |
