Good afternoon folks! I posted many ages ago as yellowfoliage on AVC, which is also my name on twitter and everywhere else. I made the Frasier card game (frasiercards.tumblr.com) and only just found this continuation of the Old Ways. Happy to be here!

Hello. I think this is a place I can put up with. I was around on the AV club for a few years but not enough that the name would mean anything. This board looks fun, so I'm here. Avatar will be forthcoming. Where are the bathrooms?

Avatar will be forthcoming. Where are the bathrooms? Welcome! We use the same waste disposal method as the Starship Enterprise (after it was discovered that the original published "official blueprints" contained no bathrooms).
We just go in the corner and set phasers to disintegrate.

Hi! I don’t know how to put up a profile pic! Someone help me!
I am Snot a Girl, Snot Yet a Woman. Though you would think I am in fact a dad for the quality of that pun. I am very sorry.
Am I doing this right?

Am I doing this right? Hey snotty! If you click on your name you will find the "edit profile" button on the upper right corner of the screen. From there you can add a picture.

Oh hi! That is a very fine kitty indeed!
I’m not being given the option to add a pic. I think it might not be an option since I am on my phone.

Hi!
I posted at the old country back in the dying days, and see a lot of familiar names here that I haven't seen for quite some time. I abandoned the old country soon after the introduction of Kinja; I've been a regular poster at the AVCAD/Avocado since the early days (and currently post the Weekly Music Thread there, for anyone who is still willing and able to use Diskwiss). I still enjoy hanging out there on the whole, but all these years later I still miss the somewhat more focused discussions we used to have at the AVC and this site seems to have more of that sort of thing.
For those who don't know or remember me (and you may not, as I was never a prolific poster back in the day and mostly stuck to the music-related threads): I was born and raised in Canada, but have lived in Japan since the turn of the century. My main area of interest is music, but I also enjoy films, and I've been slowly but steadily catching up on the fifteen or so years of TV I missed prior to decent streaming options becoming readily available for me here.
Anyway, not sure how much I'll end up hanging out here, but seems like as good a time as any to try something new.
Nice to meet and/or become reacquainted with you.

I don't recognize the name, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't recognize my handle either since I was also never very prolific, unless you happened to be super active in the comments of the Legend of Korra reviews in the early seasons. Personally I think the best arts-related thread we have here is the What Are You Reading one. The anime one used to be good but then most of the regulars there have moved on. The thread I'm visiting the most right now is the Apocalypse thread, which used to be Mad Max jokes but has now moved on to updates about where to buy toilet paper. Mostly I go here to while away the time while I'm supposed to be working, so I'm also active on the Shoutbox. It's supposed to be a place for doing board announcements but we're using it as a chatroom for random talk throughout the day and night. Anyway, welcome again.

You will find a few current/former residents of Nihon on the forum and oh-so-much musical content. The monthly Record Clubs might be a good place to start, or Random Music Thoughts will give you a sense of our randomness. Enjoy!

I am in Japan too and it will be nice to have someone else to verify and/or refute the shit I say about living here, especially in the apocalypse thread.

Hey all. I'm Aurora Boreanaz. I deleted my account (for the third time I think) again a few days ago because I got my feelings hurt...but turns out it was because {I} was being dumb and it took being yelled at by everyone in the Shoutbox at once to realize I was being a jerk. I'm sorry, I'll try to do better and not constantly barge into the Shoutbox with whatever news article I just read with no consideration for what others are talking about.

Hey all, I used to (and occasionally still will) comment at The A.V. Club under the username Anonymous37. That's my Reddit username as well (I also use Anonymous37 on premierrockforum.com/, the forum for Steve Albini's studio, which is indispensable for learning about cool new music, in my opinion), and "R. Jamie Langa" is a pen name I use for my novels (2 so far). Mr. Greene hipped me to this forum (thanks), and I signed up, because I missed the pre-Kinja discussions on The A.V. Club.

Not a board, but an ongoing thread: tolerabilityindex.freeforums.net/thread/373/give-me-all-podcasts
