I'm Hugs and Hisses, and while I'm generally too terrified of the cool kids to comment on Newswires, and too out of it on the pop culture front to comment on anything else, I live for the Wednesday T.I. Shuffle Thread. It's pretty much the highlight of my extremely uneventful life.

out for a walk (bitch) ... I post only sporadically on AVC, but lurk constantly. The comments (along with O'Neal) are a substantial part of the AVC's appeal to me, so all of you fabulous jerks in one place to lurk around sounds great. Oh, god, I just watched that episode again this week! I love it! Spikey-poo really makes me crack up this season.

Hello everyone. I'm Patrick Batman, that overly-earnest guy from the A.V. Club! I have a lot of interests. My name started as a Christian Bale joke, then was some kind of comment on human duality, now it's just my name. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt--at least, I try to. I think I act the same way online as I do in real life. I always thought your name was one of the more clever ones I'd seen. Welcome!

Despite the tech woes, here goes... Lupin Addams - the name came from a fictionalised version of me in a friend's unpublished autobiographical novel, which tells you a lot about my friends. Mostly online I go by Cat Vincent, which is close to my real name. I know its a privilege to be able to do that... I'm a writer (of mostly Fortean journalism) with the sort of chequered past that just gets weirder every time I tell it: the bits about being a former professional combat magician and exorcist who used to live in a threesome with my current wife and our ex the heiress who dumped us because the Ayahuasca spirit told her to... Honestly, if I was going to make up shit, I'd try harder to be plausible! I live in the ridiculously lovely Yorkshire town of Hebden Bridge with the better of my previous lovers (together 20 years in '14, just after I turn 50). Main interests beside weird shit and pop culture is combining the two... which is why I've managed to become an authority on, of all things, Slenderman. Also love BABYLON 5 with a passion (best synchronicity in ages was seeing a car with the plate number B5 UFO today), much SF and a bunch of music ranging from classic prog to Troubadour songs to the genre Warren Ellis calls Difficult British Electronic Music. And I pun as a brain stem reflex. I want to bend elbows with you on many occasions.

Outstanding! Now, to arrange a trip across the pond... I'll have to save up for that Coast-to-Coast hike my uncle wants to do.

Hi all. I post from time to time, probably on Newswires most often. Am too-easily tempted by comment threads where people are writing alternate lyrics for things.

Howdy all. I was a long time lurker who started posting about a year ago due to my need to gush about Rupaul's Drag Race then is sorta spiraled out of control. Love a variety of music, comic books, movies and television shows. Still not sure how I feel about the Oxford comma though.

Hello! Hope you all don't mind me coming over here. I don't think I really knew the TI existed until about 2 months ago. And I actually have to work on Wednesdays, so commenting on that was pointless. And nuDisqus changes pointless to impossible.
So, perhaps I might get a chance to interact a bit with people on non-AV Club topics over here?

Still not sure how I feel about the Oxford comma though. PRO AND PASSIONATELY The main reason I don't take a position is due to how passionate some are about it. Plus sometimes I am just too exhausted to key in that final comma . The same indifference in me is caused by the use of the passive voice, but that is a different story.

They're like fundamentalists, they're so easy to get riled up - "nooo!" they say, "Don't you know that God decreed how to use apostrophes? And that putting an apostrophe in the wrong place makes a sentence completely unintelligible!"

Some of my best friends are grammarians and I love them all, but I like to mess around with them sometimes. Also, I am my own worstest editor.

I use a lot of the proper grammar etiquette and whatnot, but I'll be damned if I can remember what the actual terms are half the time. I mainly just go with, "Does this sound right? Yes? No?"
If I do ever edit something for somebody, or catch a mistake, though, and point it out for whatever reason, I try to do so in a non-obnoxious way.

I am addicted to brackets (to the point I'm sure every other one of my posts includes one as a lengthy and unwarranted digression from my main point.)

There are ellipses... and ellipses . . . but my favorite is the one-character ellipsisβ¦ you can tweet 420 dots with the single-character ellipsisβ¦
Being in publishing, one thing I'm obsessed with is the difference between hyphens, n-dashes, and m-dashes. - vs. β vs. β. GLORIOUS.
