I'm not sure if I'm doing any of this write right (oh man..), but hello, I'm F. U. Hat. I've had an AV Club account since September 2011ish but only started commenting when the Carnivale reviews almost got cancelled. I don't comment much due to arriving late to pretty much every single party, but I lurk a lot.
I also complain a lot about my job.

Hi everyone. Glad to see this place, because AVC commenters are the smartest and funniest bitches out there. I know I can be windy and kind of a bitch, but I sincerely love reading all your comments over there. But Nu Fuqthis has made it much more difficult to read. Anyway, greetings and sick, sick love. Hi Arundel! I've been meaning to ask for the longest time--who is that in your profile picture? Hey Patrick! - It's a teenaged James Dean, from a photo-booth, maybe 1948. Dunno if you know what those were- you pay money, enter the booth and close the curtain, and it takes four pics of you in about a minute. Then you wait and get a slim photo-strip of your portrait. In the first pic from this, Dean is wearing his thick black-framed glasses- he looks so nerdy and anxious. But by this fourth pic, he had removed his glasses, and someone made him laugh, a sincere laugh, and that's why I liked the picture from the photo-booth back then. Sometimes when I'm in a bad mood I consider replacing this pic at the AVC with the first one, where he's nerdy and anxious and wearing glasses. But I like his laugh better. (Ps. I'm 44, photobooths are before my time too, except as a novelty.)

How do you like your oatmeal? I'm indifferent on that front. I will profess a fondness for crackers and licorice. So long as you avoid liquor and cliffs. (Why yes I do rather enjoy the Aldo Kelrast avatar why do you ask?)

New Orleans-based. Liquor yes, but unless they let me drive on top of a building, there's no way I'm going out like Aldo. I could Mansfield like a motherfucker, though.

Seriously? They still exist in England... and not generally as a novelty (most common use is getting passport photos of the right size done quickly - they're often near or even inside post offices).

Inneresting.. are they digital now? When you think of it, the old photobooths doing it chemically, processing and printing automatically are kind of amazing.

Been a while since I've used one, but I think some are still non-digital. Tonks is a photographer and still occasionally takes joy in the possibilities of chance in the old developing process, so I know what you mean.

You can still find them in France fairly easily, but in train stations rather; as well as for passport, it's the most convenient way to have your picture taken for railcards. You still need passport size pictures for all sorts of things anyway.

(Ps. I'm 44, photobooths are before my time too, except as a novelty.) Photobooths are all over the place in Chicago! Bars, malls, wedding receptions... it's a whole big thing. I have photobooth photos all over my cubicle, actually.

Hey guys, I finally signed up. You may know me as Senor Spielbergo on the AV Club (not to be confused with infrequent commenter Spielbergo). I still can't put a tilde over the "n" but otherwise es muy bueno!

I'm Guacamole. I'm a long time AV Club reader but have never been much a commenter, even though the discussions have always been my favorite part of the site. And O'Neil.

I'm Heatingelement, known as Heating element in the old country. Moderately frequent commenter on the AV Club, although I'm not sure I'd even qualify for "Oh yeah...that guy!" status. Still, I enjoy it, although I'm grateful to find this place. NuDisqus's "Load more comments" lagging starts to get pretty dispiriting in any article with >100 comments, and just seeing downvotes kind of pisses me off, even though I don't think they actually do anything.

I'm PolarChimp. I'm perpetually late with jokes and an introvert. Being here will end my career. I never comment until I do. I love a good ellipses and beginning sentences with "So..."

I am The Larch, though occasionally known as The Horse Chestnut (thanks Disqus). I didn't generally post on the TI itself (due to it being posted at weird times and then being way too busy when I usually get to it). Of course, I don't generally post much anywhere else on the AVClub either...

Señor, feel free to copy and paste mine! It worked...es muy bueno indeed! Gracias! De nada, mi amigo. If you are using a Windows machine, you can use the Character Key in System Tools, which can be found in accessories, to discover very, very many more accents, tildes, umlauts, and many more!
