Aw, terrible news today. Young Cardinals player Oscar Taveras was killed in a car accident in the Dominican Republic. Very sad. He was such a promising player. I loved watching him in the playoffs this season.

I'm going to avoid talking about Madison Bumgarner right now, but here's a good story about Oscar Taveras's friend and Giants utility outfielder, Juan Perez. On the other hand... WHY WOULD YOU SEND SOMEONE THAT?

Buster Posey is a pretty good name, but try this one out: Busty Poseur. It doesn't lend itself to any Arrested Development jokes, but otherwise I think it's superior.

Yeah, this is just truly awful. I'm weirdly shaken up about it, too. Maybe because I'm about the same age.

Wait, if you needed a tampon, why would you use an anonymous app? How would that get you to your goal? Just go to the women's bathroom. Someone will have one.

This is the worst thing that's ever happened to me. I've led a very fortunate life!
(Oh how I desperately tried to find a gif with that quote from New Girl.)

In perhaps unsurprising news, the Fox network has ordered a seventh episode of the popular World Series, a yearly mini-series that has millions of longrunning fans rapt with attention these past few weeks.
Also, the friend of mine that attended game 1 bought a game 7 ticket from his girlfriend's parents and is going wild right now.

Todays game will be historic either way. If the Royals win it'll be the best feel good sports story (that I'd give a shit about at least, I'm sure there's some story somewhere in the world about an amputee mid-fielder in Bundesliga that had a comeback year or something) of the year. If the Giants win it'll be the first time in my life that the game six loser not only won it all, but did so on the road (last time was the the 1975 Reds, I'm old but not that old).

Emma are we seriously the only people supporting the Giants here? Tbh if we lose Game 7 I'll be happy for KC b/c that's a fanbase that's suffered through some crap the last few decades. However, if when we win tonight I'm going to be an insufferable asshole because if you can't be the scrappy underdog you should embrace being the bad guys.

I like/respect the Giants a lot but it's pretty impossible to not root for the Royals at this point. Sorry dudes/dudettes.
Seriously though they're gonna win. Jeremy Guthrie in Game 7 of the WS? That's a bridge too far. Plus Bumgarner will throw 3 perfect innings to secure his legend.

Yeah I've been trying to avoid talking about it too much for superstitious reasons. That last part is almost exactly what I tweeted last night before the game, even though I knew Peavy in an AL ballpark was basically a guaranteed loss. I also later promised to buy everyone pizza if we made a comeback and won, since I already owe my followers a beer for the Game 4 comeback.

Man, I can't even describe how delirious Kansas City is right now. On the second to last day of the regular season, when we clinched just a playoff appearance, we were so ridiculously excited and emotional to be doing that for first time in a generation that KC practically erupted in celebration. So you can imagine the fever pitch we've hit by now. It's been an incredible rookie year for Yordano Ventura, and an even better postseason (save for one irregular appearance on short rest in the wildcard game). Great to see him get the W yesterday while paying tribute to Oscar Taveras. Before the game he tweeted in Spanish: "This is all for you, my brother. Wherever you are, I'll always remember you. You don't know the pain I'm in." On a lighter note, on the day he was named to the postseason roster, he tweeted this picture of himself to celebrate, which I could not understand less but was delighted by all the same:

It really is a testament to how likable the Royals are that the Giants are playing the villain role here. I mean Hunter Strickland seems like an asshole, and Bumgarner might be a tad too intense (although Holy Shit you can make a plausible argument for naming him the Series MVP even if the Royals win), but other than that there really isn't a single Giant that seems remotely hate-worthy*. *Granted I'm sure an unrepentant Dodger fan could come up with some counter arguments.

Well, I've got to say you're not doing too well playing the villain so far - Giants fans, players, and the organization have been nothing but classy and gracious at every step from everything I've seen. If you guys get the win tonight, it couldn't happen to a more deserving team. Whoever takes the championship will have had a phenomenal run. That said, LET'S GO ROYALS!! Put up another ten on 'em and bring it home!

But you've got an exciting team, and Paul Rudd is on your side! And of course, the villainy is more of a "lots of recent success" thing, as well as potentially beating a lovable underdog.

Of the two Brandons, Crawford seems the more obvious one to have an irrational hatred of. He's kinda ratty looking.
