Are we sure the Padres hate anyone? Hasn't the fanbase been beatdown into general apathy yet? In some cases, it's evidently just made them hate everyone. I remember going out to see the Braves host the Giants last summer, and there's some guy in our section bitching* all through the game. At everything. He hates the music before they read the line-ups. He hates whoever was singing the national anthem. He hates it when the Braves do something good, but he also is upset that they didn't win the World Series more times in the 1990's. Given that he clearly wasn't rooting for Atlanta, I figured he was a Giants fan. This was 2013, they had just won the series the year before, so I figure whatever, if the guy wants to brag a bit, I guess he's entitled to do so. But no, then he starts hating on the Giants, too. Then he starts hating on some fans doing the wave- I'm fine with hating the wave on principle, but instead he was upset with the quality of the wave the fans were producing. And he starts running his mouth off about how fans at Padres games are so much better at the wave, (finally revealing his allegiance) as if this were something to brag about. Maybe not all San Diego fans are like that, but that's the only one I've ever seen. These were decent seats, and I have no idea why he'd pay that much just to boo both teams. * This was not overheard conversation, he was there alone and just shouted all of these remarks for the benefit of anyone within earshot.

From the affinity for a good wave and just being a dick and hating on everything in general.... I sure thought he was a cardinals fan.

It seems fitting to note that so many Giants fans go to Giants/Padres games at Petco park that I can clearly hear them cheer when I watch the games and we all call it AT&T South. While normally I would assume he has money and was in Atlanta for whatever reason and really likes baseball so he checks out a field wherever he can. But if he likes the wave, how much can he really like baseball? I fucking hate the wave.

I fucking hate the wave.I've sat next to fans from Cincinnati or Boston when those teams aren't playing, and even if they don't have a dog in the fight, they'll applaud a slick defensive play or cheer for a home run. I'll buy that they just enjoy watching baseball. But this was just strange because he didn't seem to be enjoying himself at all. I'm not a Rangers fan, but if I were in Arlington I'd go see a game against whoever they're playing, just to support their stance on The Wave.

I've only been to one baseball game that didn't have either the Giants (to root for) or the Dodgers (to root against) and yeah it that case I just rooted for good plays. I'm such a smug asshole about the wave and all the beach balls in Dodger Stadium. "Oh, we don't do that in San Francisco, we're too busy enjoying the game."

That's pretty hilarious. Now I'm trying to decide what current player I'd clone for my team to face them- a roster of Andrelton Simmonses would have impeccable defense, and he also has a 95 mph fastball, or did at one point.

With tonight's loss to the Orioles, I think the Yankees have dropped something like 84,536,728 games straight.

Anyone else hear about the clusterfuck that was the Giants/Cubs rain delay?

I heard the Giants are lodging a formal protest and at least one announcer thought the Cubs were conspiring.

I heard the Giants are lodging a formal protest and at least one announcer thought the Cubs were conspiring. Yeah, I mean he took that back and Krukow has a tendency to say those kinds of things (usually about the Rockies). But seriously, that shit was fucked. I could probably roll the tarp out better than that. Even the Cubs' GM was like, "uhhh the Giants are in a pennant race so this is a stupid way to lose a game."

Yeah this sounds like a situation where some sort of replay is justified.

Just watched Giancarlo Stanton get hit in the face by an 86 mph fastball. Looks like it destroyed his left cheekbone. He got taken off on an ambulance stretcher. His father was in the audience and left with him.

Oh my goodness. That is terrible! I really like Stanton. More specifically, I love watching him hit crazy long HRs. This is really awful news.
This has been a crappy year in terms of how many really good players ended up injured.

It took a lot for me to not post that video earlier, but this is my favorite thing. The only bad part is that the Dodgers still won. But the video is just the best.

Having grown up in a minor league city with a massive inferiority complex, I'll have you know that is the fourth largest statue in the US, bro. (I seriously think that elementary schools in minor league towns ingrain stuff like this into kids heads and condition them to parrot facts in appropriate situations.)

Or wait, perhaps you've helped me stumble onto the perfect plan: @srspielbergo, we rob all the Dodger owners except Magic Johnson. After taking a relatively modest cut for ourselves because hey, we earned it, we then pay off @supernintendochalmer.
