And I just read that the Lakers are out in the melo chase, do my last paragraph was for nothing(well parts of it). Also read that the cavs would be looking to trade Dion waiters, Anthony Bennett, and a first round pick in exchange for love. Which if the t'wolves take that shit heap of a deal they deserve to lose for another decade. Yea, if that's what they end up with, they're going to regret not jumping on that Golden State deal when they had the chance. Actually the snag in the GS offer was that GS didn't want to part with Thompson. Which is really dumb on the warriors part since they were going to get Kevin martin in the deal. Sure martin isn't as good as klay, but the upgrade from Lee to Kevin love is a lot more, A LOT, than the downgrade of Thompson to martin.

Wolves could have made that work if they'd settled for Barnes instead of Klay, which I think still would have been a better deal than this Waiters and Bennett business.

Yeah, seems right. I'm not faulting him for that. He just wants to do what is best for his life, not career. Seems to have learned a lot since 4 years ago. Now what about other teams? Bosh should totally go to Houston, right? And Houston has to find a way to keep parsons as well. And melo should probably choose the bulls. Even if rose gets injured again, a bulls team with melo is going to probably be the best or 2nd best team in the east. If rose is healthy? The bulls would probably take down the cavs in the ECF. Though it seems like Lakers or Knicks is more likely. Which really seems dumb from a basketball standpoint. Lakers at best with melo and a hobbler Kobe would be lower half of the top 8 in the west. And the Knicks? Well they are the Knicks.... Bosh should totally go to Houston at this point.Β And I believe that if they can get Bosh signed within 72 hours of Parson signing that Dallas offer sheet that they would be able to both sign Bosh and match the Parsons offer.Β Gotta love the goofy NBA salary rules.
I've heard rumors though that Bosh really doesn't want to go back to Texas.Β I wonder if Phoenix would be interested, seems like he'd be a good fit there, especially after they lost Frye.Β He needs to get out of Miami at any rate, if he wants to still be on a contender.
oh man, if bosh doesn't go to Houston where would he go? No way he can stay in Miami with the roster they would likely field. Haven't heard any phoenix talk, but that would be an interesting fit. Hell, maybe bosh can go back to Toronto hahaha.

I feel like Phoenix has just been randomly thrown out as an option for everybody because they have all that cap room and trade assets, but were also a decent team last year.

Rockets dealt Lin to the lakers, and are also planning on matching Parsons. Looks like they are going to get Bosh. The West is going to be fun this year!

The West is going to be fun this year! Unless your team of choice still happens to be stuck with Scott Brooks and Kendrick Perkins. Then it will surely end in disappointment.

That Kendrick Perkins deal in hindsight screwed them. They might have had a shot at keeping Harden if they didn't have perk on the books, why they never used the amnesty on him I will never know. Perkins is also going to cost them a shot at Pau.

Even if they did amnesty Perk, the money still might not work. Not many NBA players, especially one from Spain who has been living in LA, will take a discount to move to Oklahoma.

OKC can't be that much worse than Memphis was, but that does seem to be his biggest hang-up. I'm sure he wouldn't mind taking less to finish out his career on a contender, but he wants to live somewhere nice while doing it (no offense to Oklahoma).

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd Bosh just signed with the heat. Houston gets messed with big time. Since they probably only traded lin away because they thought they were getting Bosh. Sucks from a fans perspective as well, since the heat are not going to be able to win a title without Lebron. Houston could have been really interesting with Bosh, now they got nothing. Stupid Bosh and stupid Heat for screwing up things.

I doubt that Lin was actually that big of a part of Houston's plans, so the part that stings more is that there is no way they are going to be able pitch another max level player (i.e. Melo) before the window closes on matching Parsons' offer. They are either going to lose Parsons or see all their cap space evaporate without adding another big piece.

About Lebron and Cleveland a couple of thoughts. Before The Decision 4 years ago, I recall a billboard some mooks in Cleveland had paid for. It had a pic of Lebron in a Cavs jersey and the caption read: Born here. Raised here. Played here. Stays here.
As if Lebron owed Cleveland EVERYTHING.
He doesn't and didn't owe Cleveland ANYTHING. He had no choice in the matter, he was picked ie, bought at an auction, just like a slave and forced into indentured servitude where it quickly became apparent that he wasn't being paid anywhere near what he was worth to the Cavs and the NBA. And yes yes he could have said go pound sand to the Can and played overseas but was that really realistic? Kobe could have done it since he's lived in Europe and speaks more than English and ghetto, Lebron, not so much.
But the complete and utter hypocrisy of the Cavs fans is pathetic. And yes I know that the concept of even being a fan has become pathetic but this goes beyond that.

Even if people hated that he opted out after just a year with all this public display of going back to his roots and realising what's important etc..., surely people would have to start crediting him with some of the finest trolling on display today.

And yes I know that the concept of even being a fan has become pathetic but this goes beyond that. Comparing being drafted to being sold at auction and comparing being paid a shitton of money to play basketball to indentured servitude is utterly ridiculous. If Lebron had wanted to, he could have quit playing basketball at any time he chose, if the idea of playing in Cleveland was so awful. Indentured servants couldn't quit their job. Slaves couldn't say, "Ooh, I don't like this plantation owner who just bought me, think I'll skip out on this whole being-a-slave thing." Lebron could have chosen to not play basketball if he hated Cleveland that much; I daresay he even could have been a bigger asshole move and pulled an Eli Manning. Yes, Lebron ought to be able to choose to play where he wishes as a free agent. When he left Cleveland though, he was an egotistical asshole about it, with the whole "Decision" thing. There are certainly fans who feel unreasonably entitled to Lebron staying in Cleveland, but your analogy was orders of magnitude more absurd. For comparison, in hockey, great players who had no choice about when they were drafted leave sometimes, and fans don't usually care, unless they decide to be assholes like Martin St. Louis who whined and demanded a trade when his GM left him off of the Canadian Olympic roster.

The two things I took away from his piece, and they could very well just be savvy marketing, were:
1) He misses his home and wants to raise his family there
2) Winning just one title in Cleveland would mean more to him than winning multiple titles elsewhere. He's pretty upfront that Cleveland is not the best basketball move.

How to properly take care of your various road beefs so none of them go all crazy and your wife finds out? How to properly manage moving to another team? Please. No matter what he had said or how he had said it I guarantee you the reaction from the Cleveland shitheads would have been EXACTLY the same. EXACTLY. Because Cleveland sports fans are assholes and even more selfish than your average fan. I love how EVERYONE is ignoring the fact that Riley called Lebron a pussy and a gutless coward in his press conference last week and he's right, James is a gutless pussy coward for going back to Cleveland. I mean seriously, how pathetic can you possibly be if you give a fuck what your home town thinks of you? You had no choice in living there because you were a goddamn infant and then a kid.

Can we all agree that the whole Linsanity thing was the most overhyped pile of stinking shit in the last 30 years of sports? If he was playing for Memphis or the Bobcats and things had played out exactly as they did NO ONE would have given a shit, let alone ESPN spending hours and hours and hours whoring him out as HTE GREATEST PLAYER EVARSSSS!!!!!! It's hilarious to go back and read threads on other message boards like the SDMB when all this went down, people were positively deranged, posting shit like, "We are witnesses to one of the greatest stories in sports history. Lin will be an All Star for the next 15 years and lead the Knicks to multiple championships." Except he turned out to be a one dimensional slow selfish player who pouted and sulked when the spotlight went off him and onto Anthony and who can't play defense to save his life. But because sports fans and pundits are morons they handwaved ALL of that away and went batshit again when he signed with the Rockets. I on the other hand laughed because I understand and knew that this was the beginning of the end for him, that he'd get traded again inside of 3 years and HEY AS USUAL I WAS RIGHT!!!! Guess you have never heard of Tim tebow.

Basically one of the most arrogant things I have ever seen in sports. Oh sure the sports media helped create this, and people ate it up. But it was just one big ego stroke. The celebration thing was worse. All they did was sign some contracts and were already acting like they won a championship. Nothing wrong with being happy, but they hadn't even played a preseason game yet and acted like they already accomplished something. There is nothing wrong in the actual decision he made to go to Miami, completely free to do that. Just the way he went about it was pretty bad. Also note how I barely said anything about celeland fans, and the things I said couldn't have been seen as favorable to them. So stop acting like I think Cleveland fans would have taken it differently. They still would have got mad and I still would have found it ridiculous. Burning a jersey is dumb, and Dan gilbert was a huge fucking prick for writing that letter about lebron leaving. But just because I disagree with how lebron handled going to Miami doesn't mean I'm on idiot Cleveland fans side. Everyone came off looking bad. I just focused on lebron because he is the one this whole thing is about and the one who plays basketball. And wow. Your head has just gone up your own ass. Since lebron decided to go back to Cleveland all you have done was call people idiots for thinking of lebron as a coward. That he is free to do what he pleases, but now he is a gutless coward for wanting to go back to Cleveland? Also, pussy is a dumb and sexist insult. Nothing wrong with having one, it is what lots of guys and gals love.

Oh, and regarding Lebron only speaking English and "ghetto" (which is a SUPER racist thing to say) and hence being incapable of playing in Europe, that's complete fucking bullshit. People play pro sports in countries with languages they don't speak all the damn time and they either learn to speak the language or get by with he bare minimum to communicate with teammates and use a translator. Alexander Semin of the NHL can barely speak English, Hideki Matsui used a translator for interviews in baseball, to assume that Lebron would've been incapable of learning Spanish or German or something is beyond idiotic. He wouldn't have to be able to produce a revolutionary new English translation of "Don Quixote" to be able to play professional basketball in Madrid or something.

As a Cleveland native, I was annoyed by a lot of the self-righteous behavior of Cavs fans (like, really, grow up people), but Lebron really came off like a conceited asshole in that whole "The Decision" fiasco. Which is why I'm rolling my eyes once again at Cavs fans who are pretending like there was never any animosity between Lebron and Cleveland and will welcome him back with open arms, even though he's pulling the same bullshit he did four years ago, just in reverse. I don't think Lebron "owes" Cleveland anything but some respect, and he didn't give us that. (Cleveland sports fans could have not acted like babies about it, though, but sports fans are rarely well-known for emotional maturity...)

Can someone recommend a really good Hoopsball comedy/drama? I was looking for something of similar quality and tone that Bull Durham is to baseball, Slap Shot is to hockey, and North Dallas Forty is to football? I happened to see North Dallas Forty the other night and I was idly trying to think up a quad feature movie night with similar themed movies for the other sports. I really like Hoosiers, but it has a mostly serious feel to it and there's not a lot of humor.

Space jam!(okay maybe not if you weren't born in the 90s Celtic pride!(maybe not, because you asked for a good movie and not a flaming pile of shit) The 6th Man(maybe not because it stars Marlon wayans) For real, He Got Game.

If you really want a light-hearted basketball movie that will lift your spirits you should go watch Hoop Dreams.
