Owl, is this a good thing for the popular NBA team the Minnesota Timberwolves? TBD, but probably more likely to be an improvement? The Wolves have been pretty poorly run during his whole tenure as owner.

Suns win game 1. Woooo!
It is crazy to think Chris Paul might finally win a ring with my own city's team. Chris Paul has had some terrible playoff luck. The Phoenix Suns have also had some terrible playoff luck.
Somehow the terrible luck of both have combined to produce an insane streak of good luck. Booker broke his nose, Chris Paul had COVID, hurt his shoulder, and his shooting hand, but somehow none of it matters.
I am totally right about this. That much playoff bad luck colliding on one team produced a negative reaction, thereby creating good luck. This is the only explanation for what is happening.

What is everyone's opinion of this bad rap song about the Phoenix Suns?

It is ridiculous.
Though, I am amused that the silly guy who got pulled into that fight in Denver has managed to get so much mileage out of yelling "Suns in 4" to a dude who dumbly thought he could beat up a bigger guy, just because he was in a higher row.

And "Suns in 4" guy gets another day of fame. Suns win Game 2! Giannis scored 42 points and the Bucks lost. Bucks couldn't get 3-point shots to drop to save their lives. This Suns version of the pick-and-roll is shockingly good. Bucks tried a new defense that caused the Suns to go into Point 5 and continued scoring just as easily as they had before. I cannot believe how much improvement the Suns made this season, obviously thanks to Chris Paul. Wow, can't recall ever seeing a player have that kind of an impact.
Edited to add: A local reporter and super fan of Phoenix sports has started a Twitter game where he asks people to chug a beer if the Suns win. Currently, the last 10 tweets in my timeline are RTs from him of Suns fans chugging beers. I personally know 3 of these people. I clicked his hashtag. (#ChuggingWithTheFellas) He has a LOT of people doing this.
edited a second time: The Suns have played the Bucks 4 times now this season. In 3 of those games Giannis has scored 40+, but the Suns won all 3.
Game 2 was much crazier, yet the results were largely the same:
Game 1: Suns 118, Bucks 105 Game 2: Suns 118, Bucks 108
Let's go Suns!

I guess I am happy that he is equal opportunity and isn't singling one team out for bad raps. Though, Luka Doncic deserves good rap songs, damn it.

Ok, NBA playoffs are back. Who you got? I'm hoping the Suns get back to the Finals. I would love/hate a rematch with the Bucks. Would be awesome to see the Suns win this time. However, not sure I want the Suns to face Giannis in the Finals again.
Do we think the Celtics could make it to the Finals? I'm not sold on Miami, but I haven't seen a lot of them.
Curious to see if we get a Warriors-Grizzlies second round matchup. That could be fun.
Hoping for lots of long, exciting series everywhere else, and that the Suns sweep the Pelicans. I need Chris Paul to play as few games as possible so as to lower his injury risk. Tonight he had a complete takeover of the game in 4th quarter. He has a classic post-game interview quote when the reporter asked him about why he chose to shoot so many 3 pointers in the 4th quarter. He said Willie Green (Pels coach) coach was shouting out their defensive scheme, so he let them run that, and then took the shot he knew they weren't going to be in position to defend. "They were daring me to shoot. So I did."
Gotta love the simplicity. You, too, can take over an NBA playoff game! Just listen to what the other team's coach tells them to do, and then do the thing they aren't defending for! Voila!

Seems like the smart money would be on the Suns this year? At the very least, they seem like a far more obvious pick to make the Finals than the more confusing mix of East contenders.
I'm just happy to have a relevant Timberwolves team in the playoffs for the first time in 18 years (don't really count the cursed Jimmy Butler team that limped into the 8th seed). I'm sure Memphis will bounce back with a vengeance after Saturday, but it's going to be a fun series. I think the relative inexperience of both sides of the match up kind of dilutes the advantage you'd usually give a 2-seed over the 7-seed. That and Anthony Edwards insane confidence is the renewable energy source that could fix climate change if harnessed.

We'll see. I do worry a bit about the possibility of the Suns facing the Bucks again. I know the Suns purposefully went out and got players this year to help against Giannis, but that is still daunting. I think the Suns could beat Philly or Boston. Not sure about Miami. The two Suns/Heat games this season were very strange and don't provide a lot of helpful info.
As for the West, I don't worry about the second round for the Suns. They can easily beat Utah or Dallas. Even if Doncic is playing. Dallas with Doncic haven't beat the Suns since November, 2019. They are winless against CP3/Ayton version of the Suns. Utah has only been able to beat the Suns when Chris Paul wasn't playing.
The Suns do have a real challenge with the Warriors. And I don't think Denver has a shot to take them out in the first round. Denver is only making the playoffs because they have Jokic. Their two next best players haven't played all season, essentially. Even if Murray comes back, I don't they are beating the Warriors. The Suns have a challenge with the Warriors lineup. The only documented way to beat the Suns at full strength is to shoot around 40% from 3. The Warriors can do that.
So, I'll just root for Memphis or Minnesota to take the Warriors out in the 2nd round.
I like Minnesota a lot. I really like Anthony Edwards and KAT. I was so happy to see the T-Wolves beat the Clippers in that play-in game. They played really smart against Memphis in Game 1. So, I think Minnesota has a shot in this series. Should be a good one.

Granted the Lakers won the bubble title, but in general I'm enjoying that this current crop of microwave free agent contenders (Lakers, Clips, Nets) are all turning into flops.

The 2021-22 Timberwolves die as they lived: entertaining and baffling in equal measure.
Be interesting to see what they do this off-season. ANT is clearly the future and for all his flaws, I can’t see them moving off KAT. Russell though…Guy had his moments but I can’t see anyone feeling great about giving him a big extension. Not sure what deal exists that represents a clear upgrade at the #3 option though.

I agree. But I'm never all that great at figuring out what players should be brought in. I hope that the TWolves are on an upward trajectory, though. I really liked what I saw of them this season.
Suns are up 2-1 in their second round series. I predicted this one would be Suns in 5, and I predicted that the Mavs win would be in Game 3. I damn near predicted the outcome when I told my mom this afternoon, "Suns will probably lose by about 10 points." Damn, it almost makes me wish I was into sports gambling.
Still worried about the potential Suns WCF matchup with either the Grizzlies or GSW. Memphis would likely be slightly easier than GSW, but both teams will pose a challenge to the Suns defense.

Bummer. Mavs are about the get destroyed by GSW.

No idea. I've been so busy working OT, I haven't looked up what happened in Game 6 & 7. Before this the Mavs hadn't beaten the Suns since before Luka was drafted. On paper, this is a very easy matchup for the Suns, and the first two games illustrated that. Very strange. Going to be boring watching GSW in the Finals again.

Excited to see how Brooklyn’s “two scandals will cancel each other out” theory pans out. Obviously this is a much better path than cutting ties with an anti-Semite who’s been the league’s biggest distraction for like 5 years running.

Lighter note: PLAY BETTER WOLVES. It will suck so much if we all have to admit the Gobert trade was a big mistake.
