@newuser
Random thought, but would it be a thing if all 4 of the California teams made the playoffs in one year for the first time ever?

Going to be pretty disappointing if Tobias Harris ends up being the biggest name moved this week.

If Steph Curry decided that he would only shoot next season by spinning around with his back to the basket and shooting the basketball backwards, would the Warriors still make the playoffs?

I for one am shocked, SHOCKED that a Utah Jazz fan well-enough off to have seats behind the visiting team bench would feel completely justified launching racial verbal abuse at a player.

Napped through the first Warriors/Raptors game. What kind of bizarre timeline have we crossed into

As a lifelong Raptors fan I can't even begin to describe how awesome this feels. It's always been difficult to be a Canadian who doesn't care about hockey and lives, breathes and sleeps basketball, but the Raps did it. Just for me.

In all seriousness, now that the city of Toronto knows that voodoo works, I assume we should start preparing for the Leafs to finally make a cup run.

In all seriousness, now that the city of Toronto knows that voodoo works, I assume we should start preparing for the Leafs to finally make a cup run. Well, as usual Toronto has been insufferable with the "you're a traitor if you aren't cheering for the raps anywhere in Canada" nonsense*, even from people who probably haven't watched a Basketball game before this year. While I'll happily cheer for the Raptors I'm really not an NBA fan overall when it comes to basketball, still nice to see them win it over GS though. Basketball wise it was an interesting run though. Honestly I wish Lebron had still been in the East for them to actually beat him on the way to it but hey, whatever. *Your team of American/International players that just happens to be based in Toronto does not make them Canada's team** **See also Jays fans, I've gone to approximately 10x the Twins games than I have Jays games, if I want to cheer for them it doesn't make me a 'traitor' nor does it the tons of Vancouver folks who cheer for the Mariners (that just makes them sad.)

Oh yea, I also got a kick out of the "This will show Canada can HOOP!!" takes given that the team has exactly one benchwarmer who could even generously be considered "Canadian"

I'm just thankful that all my hard work paid off for the Raptors. I'm not one to brag, but me jumping on the bandwagon at Game 2 of the Finals was definitely the last push the team needed to take it all the way.

I agree that the whole “this is Canada’s team!” narrative is more than a little silly (especially since, as has been pointed out, none of these guys are Canadian. Hell Steph Curry has a better claim to Canadianness than any of the Raps who saw action in these playoffs), but I can’t say I’ve seen or heard anyone accusing non-Raptors-supporting Canadians of treachery. We have a few of them in this office (including an out and proud Warriors fan!) and while there’s been a lot of good-natured ribbing and general ball-breaking there doesn’t seem to be any sort of expectation that YOU MUST SUPPORT OUR TEAM. Maybe there’s more of a perception of that outside of this general area, but around here, with the history of sports futility throughout most of our lifetimes it’s perfectly natural to have rooting interests in out-of-town teams. And I’ll freely admit that Toronto is insufferable about a hell of a lot of things, but in my experience this ain’t one of them

It's absolutely a thing, I'm glad your particular bubble isn't though.

The word I was looking for was "treason", not "treachery". I might have been a little sleep deprived and possibly still drunk when I wrote that. And Baron von Costume I'm sorry you've had to deal with such shitty sports fans – that honestly sucks. I must be lucky in my bubble because I can't even think of anyone I know who takes sports so seriously that they'd dictate who someone else is allowed to cheer for

As someone who went through a team being relocated, you can gladly not follow them. Especially if it is to a differenr country all together. Also, that means sonics fans now have to be thunder fans, which would be so fucked up.

My message to the haters: ╭∩╮( ͡° ل͟ ͡° )╭∩╮ It will legitimately be interesting to see who they flesh out that backcourt with now. Desperately need shooting or it’s going to get real crowded for LeBron, AD, and Kuzma at the same time. I’d imagine their books are clean enough to spend big one more time though

Lakers front office thinking they could pull Kawhi after miraculously getting Anthony Davis was nothing but pure hubris. You'd think the past ten years would have humbled them somewhat, but they're still pulling that "sure I have all my toys, but I want that other kid's toys as well" bullshit. Honestly, it can be hard to support a team that feels like they're magically compelled to get everything they want through no actual effort of their own but based solely on brand recognition, even though I know that's not necessarily the fault of the people actually playing on the team.
The childish side of me is a bit annoyed that he and PG went to the Clippers of all teams, but objectively it'll make for a compelling rivalry and some good old fashioned b-ball drama.
