Cronk isn't a band, it's a genre. It's crunk songs that are updated daily with call-and-response lyrics reflecting current news stories. Rather than shouting them like Lil' Jon, they are delivered in the even, sober, trustworthy manner of the late Walter Cronkite.

Nostromo replied to you on MacGruber 2 is not only happening, it might have already happened 19 hours ago
Ben Grimm 9 months ago I saw it new, and while some of it was funny, I didn't think it worked overall. It reminded me of 1941, in that frantic action seemed to take place that was supposed to be funny, but wasn't. Admittedly, that was a long, long time ago, and it's possible it's better than I remember.
Nostromo 19 hours ago A disinterested Penny Marshall made that dance hall scene for me. MacGruber!!!
Note: I had to go back and look, and my comment was about Ishtar. His was about 1941. Neither of us were talking about MacGruber at all.

Via The Dissolve:
Colin Williamson upvoted you on The Tale Of The Princess Kaguya a day ago Jean-Luc_de_Lemur a year ago Let’s hear three cheers for odd and overstuffed plotting—one of the things I like best about animated films is that they don’t only offer an opportunity to break free in terms of visual style, but that they often decide to tinker with conventional storytelling structures as well (this is probably one of the big reasons I don’t like Pixar, which is usually very much a Hollywood three-act company, nearly as much as other people). I think the two go hand-in-hand here—there’s such detail and rhythm to Takahata’s depiction of both country and town life life, and he really lavishes attention on both nature and cultural artifacts (especially clothing). It is long and rambling, but I still wanted to spend more time in the world, so I guess Takahata got something right. I found the whole thing very, very effective, and it’s the only film this year I’d unreservedly give five stars to.
Anyway, I’d recommend seeing it in with ondertitels—I have no idea how good the translations or translated voice acting are, but a huge part of the film is centered on harvest and nature songs that are sung by the characters, and there’s something in the music and prosody that makes them really hit you even if you can’t speak the language (I think this is true of pretty much any song). I’m also glad that it doesn’t look like it was butchered for US release—I can imagine it being cut down due both to make the plot more streamlined and for some content.
